What's For Dinner #57: The Keep On Keepin' On Edition - May 2020

Yes I thought I linked it?

It also has three sample recipes which are pretty representative. A fourth is the black mushroom chicken one I described. The ingredients are minimal - and frugal given the period, so it’s quite an interesting contrast to some others. Can easily be adjusted too.

With the umami from the miso, that looks like it would be easily adaptable to a veggie dish that my son would really enjoy. We’ll have to give it a try.

that is all infuriating. sounds like you actually handled it better than most.

i bet this tasted wonderful!

I bet adding the miso would give an extra umami punch and different dimension to a lot of pastas, like cacio e pepe or even aglio e olio

Yep. Especially these days when shopping is a risk and (at least me) some folks are trying to minimize the number of trips to the store.

You did, just not directly to that page with the full table of contents + pictures. Hence “that site”

Very enticing.

Jeebus. Why are the holiday weeks always worse than the regular weeks? Why does MOAR SHIT get thrown into short weeks vs. weeks when you have another 8 hours to deal with stuff? :::Sigh:::

I got home sooner than I had expected but still later than I had wanted.

Wine poured. Bra off, which is a requirement. The gals who get it, get it. And notice how wine was poured BEFORE the bra came off. Priorities, dammit.

A b/s chicken breast was quick-marinated in a combo of fresh lime juice, olive oil, maple syrup, salt and a shit-ton of pepper, and then pan-sauteed in butter and olive oil and finished in the convection oven with the marinade pour over top while baking.

Steamed baby red and yellow potatoes and green beans and the PSTOW alongside.

Because if I’m going to have a shitty week next week, I’m having wine all weekend.

That looks good!

I did Google it, but not sure ;

Moar is an intentional misspelling of more, used online as a humorous demand” ?

Yup. MOAR as in ROAR! More emphasis with the misspelling, IMO.

Mrs. P made her famous rabbit pappardelle with fresh shaved orange rinds :yum: It went great with an excellent red zinfandel aged in bourbon barrels.

Ma po tofu recipe made with a friend’s homemade sichuan chili crisp - unbelievable stuff, very very sichuan peppercorn-y. We INHALED this. No leftovers.

I also also made pork dumplings that are now in the freezer for another meal. and then i remembered that I’d forgotten to make these green beans for dinner, so made them after - same basic mapo tofu treatment - for another night. maybe with the dumplings.

Happy Friday!
