Oh, I am aware. I did a bit of research when I was trying to recreate what I had at the wonderful little Italian place and saw Rao’s original, but the combo that chef developed works for us. I should probably call it something else, though.
It’s a bit chilly here and Broccoli Cheese soup is on the menu. I just can’t make up my mind on something. I have a large boneless chicken breast I thought I might cut in cubes, cook, then add to the soup.
I have never added chicken to broccoli soup before. Is this a good idea or should I just leave well enough alone?
The sun is back today - along with the humidity. Dinner is from Ottenghi’s Plenty More. A refreshing looking pomelo and green mango salad with lashings of fresh coriander. I’ll follow his suggestion to bulk it out with some cold rice noodles and keep the chilli as a side so the four year old will eat it.
I’m considering something fishy on the side for me as the poor bloke is suffering vertigo and will not be that interested in eating much. We’ll see what looks freshest at the fishmonger.
I think that’s a good combo. Why not give it a try?
Same, cold here and ate cheese too.
Endive gratin: Endive farci with dried abricot and raisin cook in a reduced cream sauce with Parmesan and a splash of Noilly Prat. Preferred the alcohol in cooking than drinking.
I absolutely adore endive! Made myself some lemon & butter poached endive today for lunch.
This sounds lovely, though I’m not sure I could abide the fruit in the dish…
Actually, it was the sweet fruits and the salty parmesan that gave an interesting contrast.
But hubby said, he would also like endive and ham together.
Interesting. I’m not generally a fan of savory dishes with fruit… but one of my favorite winter salads is endive with tangerines. Go figger '-D
I decided to leave the chicken out of it. I am afraid I will be wishing I made chicken divan instead.
Sure why not? I think the answer is truly subjective, do you like chicken -and- brocolli? If so who cares what any of us think! Enjoy!
Ok never mind!
Espresso rubbed NY Sirloin, extra veggies, no potato. Earlier cup of lobster&crab bisque and garden salad. NotJr is a happy boy!
Drinky-poo’s with my gal pals at the CBDTR. I’ll likely have the hamachi collar again, which comes with a miso soup.
My man will give TJ’s palak paneer a try tonight.
OMG. No need to say more…
We went to a lobster party the other night. A fellow we know goes to the Keys each year and brings back a boat load of lobsters. He throws a big party for all his fellow physician friends which we have been lucky enough to be invited to. Lobsters at least four ways. We ended up taking home a bag of left over roasted lobster.
I used some of it for a lobster omelet yesterday morning and tonight I used the rest of it. Created a broth to heat and steep it in to warm it up and re-moisturize it and served it with a lettuce salad, jicama salad with a side of toasted Cuban bread laced with evoo and fresh ground cumin.
We look forward to this party each year. A chance to connect with friends, meet new ones, network and gorge on an over abundance of Fla lobster
Had two chicken breast from the market to use. Decided to do some baked chicken tenders. Right now the sliced chicken is resting in buttermilk seasoned with sriracha salt, pepper, cayenne, garlic powder, and some dried mustard. Coating will be panko heavily seasoned with more sriracha salt, cayenne, pepper, and garlic powder.
Tots, green salad, and wine for sides.
Mexican Monday: Chicken mole, mexi cauli rice and avocado salad.
Mexi-cauli rice? Could you talk about that some please? Sounds good.
Been away for a bit, and dinners have happened.
Tonight was a special dinner. This is the final night of my 25 yr old French cousin’s visit. To celebrate, I made her a nice meal, serving it in the French style. To start we had some leek-spinach soup with a coin of goat cheese. The main course was a roasted leg of lamb, roasted potatoes, and steamed haricot verts. A salad followed and finally some chocolates to end. We opened a Cote du Rhone wine and in spite of one person not drinking due to pregnancy and another simply abstaining, the bottle is empty.
I totally forgot to take a picture. You will just have to take my word that this was a fine, if simple, meal.
I cook onion and grated cauliflower in oil until it get a little color, then I add diced jalapeño and salsa, sprinkle with grated cheese, done.
