What's for Dinner #49 - the Falling Leaves Edition - Sept 2019

Does Netflix on the couch count as cinema?

With dinner at 5:30 p.m.for the toddler, there aren’t many apps in our household :joy:

Food rules are meant to be broken, I say. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

@ChristinaM,

Whatever floats your boat !

Why not get a babysitter (or grandparents) and go to the cinema ?

Have a nice wkend.

Sitting on the couch watching a good movie trumps going out. Safer and the food is better

I was expecting more of a cool, stormy day. But Dorian petered out. At least in my area. I’m OK with that. I hope anyone who was in its path up the East Coast is doing OK.

I still went with my first fall meal: Mom’s Lemon Pot Roast with boiled and buttered baby potatoes and carrots. There was wine.

And Autumn is officially here. :smiley:

I was wrenching on a car for a while and wasn’t too hungry. I was hot.

However, I managed to split a platter and some bacon wrapped smoked jalapenos (smoked, deep fried and filled with cheese :smile: ) … sadly not pictured

Fried sprouts with sweet chili are the healthiest side you can get lol

We had another outstanding dinner at Cafe Panache. Details and mouth watering pictures are in the below link for anyone that might be interested.

Dinner tonight was a delicious but not photogenic slow cooker pot roast and garlic cauliflower mashed potatoes. But I did take this pic of my first pumpkin martini of 2019:

Love this dinner. Thank you LindaWhit’s mom! But I’ve never heard of Lemon Pot Roast. Do tell. I may not have tomatoes but I’ll be overflowing with big, juicy lemons in a minute. :wink:

The red hot summer came late to L.A. this year. :sweat::sweat_drops: Right now I mostly just pass thru my kitchen and keep going. But I’m enjoying looking at and reading about everyone’s dinners this month!

I remember that you posted the Lemon Pot Roast recipe recently, but I can’t find it. Would you mind giving it again? It would be the perfect autumn meal - with wine, of course. Thanks!

@TheCookie,

Yes, this is fabulous.
We are grand enthusiasts of Chef Buffo and Ristorante 12 Apostoli.
We had been in Sardinia and decided to fly over to Verona, to see dear Friends, a couple of days ago and go for lunch.
Now, we are going to be flying home to Barcelona this evening from Marco Polo, Venezia.
Off for some “bacari e cicchetti” (bar tapas ! ) in enchanting Venezia at the Grand Canal …

Have a wonderful day.

Have had a very difficult week, traveling out of state to consult allergy specialist ( most specialize in asthma and sinus problems ) that deals with autoimmune urticaria. Had 160 skin test with every single test positive except for dust. I told him I vacuum twice a day so there are no dust around.
So dinner was short fast, with a bit of filling for the poms
Turned out pretty good as my son had dinner with his friends.
Pre cooked pulled duck legs from maple farm, added to Evoo, garlic, mixed vegetables( frozen) ,bell peppers, hot poblano peppers, precooked pan fried shishito peppers, then added ripe tomatoes which were cooked in another pot ,with scrambled eggs.
Danishh avarti cheese, in a flour tortilla wrap, added with tabasco.
No onions as I shared this with my poms, removing the hot pepper and sans tabasco for them. Thy love havarti cheese, or any cheese.
No pictures taken, vertigo, side effects with new meds.

Gorgeous weekend here - I spent most of my time gardening. I was looking for something simple for dinner so I threw a pork tenderloin in a sous vide bath at 130 degrees while I looked through the fridge for further inspiration since I didn’t fancy a trip to the store. Found a navel orange languishing in the drawer, so I sliced it thin and caramelized the slices in butter as the base of a sauce. White wine, the juices from the pork, roasted garlic, a handful of mixed herbs from the garden and some lime juice turned it into a mouthwatering sour orange concoction. Definitely repeat-worthy.

Spaghetti squash with butter, parmesan and lots of black pepper on the side.
