Forgot to post this the other night. Had my birthday dinner at one of my favorite restaurants, Barnacle Bill’s in Rumson, NJ. Broiled seafood combo with delicious bacon-wrapped shrimp, scallops, and stuffed flounder. And a martini (or two) with extra olives!
We were in Manhattan once during the San Gennaro festival. Since that time I always plan our trip after the festival is over.
Belated Happy Birthday Gregg …Hope it was a great one…
Does the restaurant have a theme song?
Happy Birthday!
Thank you!
No theme song, but after a few of their LITs I could probably come up with one!
Thank you!
Smoking pork , charring corn, grillng onion, peppers, and zuchinini for a salad, and fermenting pineapple.
Not in that order.
Happy belated birthday!! Great meal.
@meatn3
Very thoughtful of you making chocolate chips and the visit. And thanks a lot for moderating ‘alone’!
I lost 1 of my prepaid 7-days SIM cards bought in Hong Kong, i’m fine for the first 7 days with the second card I got but need to find in Korea something for the next 5-6 days…
No problem! Enjoy your travels.
I overate at lunch with a extremely big course meal, so dinner I was glad to find something lighter.
We went to Itaewon and walked on the wrong path. Google map isn’t very useful, many path are omitted.
The place we wanted to go was on a downward slope but we did the difficult job of climbing the slope, passing around some very chic maison, very contemporary. At one point we were worried that the place was situated on the top of the hill. The place was so remote, we didn’t see any public transport nor taxi. I insisted to continue the path half wishing the place would be good, luckily it was!
It was a gastro pub. We got a good makgeolli
Oysters
Goat with prune and yogurt sauce
Squid stuffed with mushroom
Pork belly with kimchi salad
You just be quite the “influencer”!
The whole place was Korean, even the menu, at one point the server asked how did you find us… my iPhone did translate keywords in part of the wine list but impossible with the menu. We got recommended some dishes by the server who has limited English. But was glad with the adventure.
Had a talk with the chef after the meal too. People look cold, but once break the ice, they are kind and curious.
Happy happy!
We had our neighbor friend over for a cook-out lunch. She brought Mexican street corn and a bottle of bubbly, as well as a Beyond Meat burger for herself. We supplied the fixins, an asparagus, tomato, feta, and toasted walnut salad, chips and salsa, grilled homegrown pattypan squash, more bubbly, and the chocolate chip cookies. We omnis had Mexicali chicken burgers with cheese.
I disagree, it looks yummy
Lobster rolls prepared with butter, a tiny bit of mayo, salt, pepper, pinch of paprika, and a scallion garnish. Served on split-top brioche rolls with roasted garlic potatoes and grilled asparagus.
That looks amazing!
I hope you had a safe and fun Independence Day. It was a quiet day for me. Fireworks in my town were last night, so the boyz were scared. Tonight they sleep on the back of the couch.
It was a limey and lemony meal tonight. Steak tips, corn salad and coleslaw.
The steak marinade was olive oil, maple syrup, lime juice, minced garlic and thyme, s/p. The corn salad was corn, quartered cherry tomatoes, minced shallots, basil and cotija cheese, with a dressing of olive oil, lime juice and s/p. And the coleslaw was packaged with extra grated carrots with a dressing of mayo, lime juice, sugar, s/p. Finally, dessert was lemon posset and blueberries.
The libation was vodka, lemonade, and ginger beer.
I’m watching the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular at the Hatch Shell and will turn up the volume for the 1812 Overture.
