A regular breakfast for me as well.
I have had a 42" Solaire infrared ceramic gas grill since 1990’s. It is perfect for thigh heat searing as well as very low that for fish and or vegetable. It comes with life long warranty.
May only problem is the igniter is not working. I called and the owner, Mr, Rasmussen told me to have my son call as it can be fixed with installing new batteries but my son never did.
3 years ago, one of the ceramic exploded. When I called to buy a new part, it was shipped to me free of charge.
I still have the rotisserie( used once ) when we first got it for roasting a turkey ini Novemeber when it was frigid cold. That was the first and only time I bothered with it.
We’re going out tonight in an effort to cheer ourselves up (you’ll only need to look at the news to see why we need cheering). One of our favourite upmarket places about an hours drive away.
As for tomorrow - the kielbasa & sauerkraut recipe on this link - https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2015/feb/15/nigel-slater-soothing-sausage-recipes
Wot… record-breaking temperatures in the news? Disappointing that it wasn’t Hunt (between the two).
Just got back and am still breathing fire. Only have to hit the gym this evening and am not leaving the house tomorrow when this hellish heat reaches its zenith. Have been eating chilled food and things in tins.
Good luck with the grill. My last grill was an “infared” albeit a cheaper Charbroiler version, I burned the shit out of everything on that dam thing. Luckily the thing rusted out about 3x’s in 4 years and I just got sick of it and went back to a Weber with a sear and infared for rotisserie. Very happy to be back to a Weber!
But we Brits always go on about the weather - hottest, coldest, wettest, driest - it fills up newspaper pages.
As does the other, ahem, matter. I’m a hard Remainer and, if we do leave, I’ll become a hard Rejoiner. Truth be told, I’ve come round to the view that, if we are to leave, then it should be on the hardest of hard Brexit terms - it’s only that way that the Brextremists will be held to account for what they’ll have done to my country. Anything less, and they’ll weasel their way out of accountability with “ah, yes but it would have been OK if it had been a “proper” Brexit”. So let 'em have it. I really am genuinely ashamed at myself for saying that as I know it’s the most vulnerable people and poorest communities that will be hit hardest by Brexit. But I keep hoping against hope that “something” will happen to just stop it - but we have spineless politicians who know its a bad thing but are going along with it.
“Rainbow salad”
Son brought and cooked Denver steaks = rich, delicious, tender, a revelation, lots of pre-table kitchen snitching of tidbits. no pics
Pasta with fresh tomato sauce. no pics
And finally CAKE! WITH GUMMIES!
Ummmmm…yeah…hey…ummmmmm…is that a…you know it kinda looks like you’ve got a…Hey Pilgrim, what is it you’ve got on top of your cake there???
Ummmmmm…cake was decorated by birthday girl, an “8” made out of small gummy cola bottles, several blue and green gummy bears, and…to guild the lily, a giant gummy cola bottle. Plus 8 candles.
I see now that it could be interpreted as Grocho Marx specs and long nose…but not so.
Lmao…well I do apologize but an “8” isn’t what I initially saw. (obviously)
Cake. as rorschach test.
Stop showing off! LOL, joking! Back from holidays but only green tomatoes, nothing edible yet. With the oven temperature now exterior, I don’t understand why the tomatoes grow so slow. I will add some fertiliser…
Do they have enough water?
My neighbours have been taking care of them day and night (from our security camera, although the aim was not to spy them ), plants were healthy. They have been growing indoors until end of May, maybe they are mostly ancient varieties, grow slower…
Back home yesterday! So much hotter in Europe than in Asia, crazy. Got some cheese and bread, gazpacho and carpaccio with pesto as dinner.
We have succeed in smuggling so many forbidden food in our luggages! Especially dried meat, we got pork jerkies, packs of them, XO sauces with ham and American ginseng too. Was a bit worry since we need to transit in London… Luckily the French customs are more interested in taxing newly purchased computers and phones than food. (Actually they are interested in food, I once saw an African traveller in tears, because her luggages full of fresh fish and meat would have to be destroyed.)
Man that is a beautiful looking bowl! YUM!
With power out for a lot of people last night, we invited an older friend without power for 20 hours to join us for Indian food and air conditioning. Ironically, it was the exact same meal we had when he last joined us for dinner, since we did not think to have him over until yesterday afternoon. I stopped by the Indian market for some pakora and then sweet chutney and bhel mix to make bhel puri. Those were the appetizers. Meal was butter chicken, basmati rice, curried cauliflower. For dessert, we just happened to have a peach cobbler lying around. He brought the wine, and much of it.
Now tonight, we shall switch things up totally with a simple roast beef and Swiss panini.
Panini with roast beef, Swiss cheese, and spinach. Side of couscous salad with spinach, chick peas, red onion, and a balsamic dressing (I’ve gone a little crazy with the air fryer lately and have temporarily reached my fries/chips limit) . The press I use is actually a bacon press I picked up at a thrift shop a few years ago for $1 and I have never once used it for bacon.
Mrs. P made a delicious creamy fresh sweet NJ corn pasta with fresh homegrown basil. She used farfalle pasta, scallions, red pepper flakes, butter, sea salt, black pepper, olive oil, and was topped with fresh shaved parmigiano reggiano. The awesome creamy sauce was made with pureed fresh sweet NJ corn, butter, parmesan, sautéed scallions, and red pepper flakes to give it a nice kick and compliment the sweet corn.
And eggshells for sweetness
