We hosted our big lamb feast for 6 friends tonight. We had a nice spread of mezzedes — TJ’s dolma & gigantes, and my melitsanosalata with walnuts & feta,
which we had on the patio along with bubbly rosé and G&Ts.
The smaller shoulder was used for my PIC’s aMAZing youvetsi,
the big’un grilled low & slow on the Primo after being slathered with anchovy paste & stuffed with garlic slivers and rosemary sprigs.
I made maroulosalata with feta & tzatziki, both of which got snarfed up entirely.
The grilled shoulder was pull-apart tender & absolutely delicious, thanks to the lovely advice I got from a few HOs on this thread. I was reminded of my first ever whole lamb grilled on a beach in Santorini in the early 80s. So flavorful, with crispy fatty bits & a wonderful char!
Our Lebanese friend brought date cookies and sesame cookies for dessert.
A lovely evening with good food & great company. We’ll have to fast until Sunday after this gluttony.
