Thank you. I can’t wait to hear how you make out.
Thanks for 'splaining the store name’s etymology. It’s wonderful to be part of such an erudite community, its members always willing to share their expansive knowledge ![]()
As a non-native speaker/non-Rhode Islander, I had no idea that
Living in central PA it makes about as much sense as naming a town Jersey Shore nowhere near the sea ![]()
FWIW, I enjoy shopping there & finding random shit like that fabulous imported pasta (not so much the cheap-ass gloves that tore after 4 days of wearing them, or PJs that did the same).
Now that I know they do charitable work I will feel extra virtuous whenever I go back ![]()
I think at this point you might have me beat in terms of salad consumption ![]()
Hope today is a better day.
I’m sorry you had a shit day, and hope that today is better. Feel free to unload in a DM any time ![]()
That looks fabosky! Loving all the awesome bread creations here ![]()
That always cracked me up when I lived in central PA.
ETA: And I was also unaware that “job lot” is a retail term for bulk merchandise sold by resellers.
That’s me! Except I still take it as long as I can afford a refill.
I get my meds through Mark Cuban’s cost plus. Saved me so much money!!

I am checking out the ones that I can get from them. They don’t have many of the ones I take.
They only have generic drugs. Maybe your doctor could prescribe those??
Maybe. For some things not. I don’t want to ruin this thread. I am in an hour long chat with an insurance company and it has gotten me nowhere.
A few years ago, there was a medication Sunshine was taking, her insurance changed and that medication wasn’t covered.
At that time, Walmart was running a $4/month medication list. We found a similar medication on the list, the doctor said the cheaper one should work, and switched her prescription to the $4 drug. It wasn’t a perfect solution, but it got her through that time.
You might want to check and see if there are similar or semi-similar medications available on GoodRx or similar drug discount services.
Roasted chicken breast with a side salad of spinach and romaine, carrots tomato and feta. Red wine vinaigrette.
Our house pasta, this time made by my PIC: tuna, tomatoes, olives, fennel seeds and garlic, which we cobbled together years ago after a trip to Sicily. On penne from our pasta extruder, which I also highly recommend! Not photogenic but delicious!
Today was a better day. Funny how not being in excruciating pain can change one’s general outlook and disposition.
I was hoping to finally be allowed/able to drive again by Monday (which happens to be a major source of my income), but my surgeon gave me March 9 as the earliest date
Bad news for me & my various clients, who’ve been rather desperately waiting for me to get better. I may just try to take the car around the block this weekend and see how it goes ![]()
@digga’s enlightening comment inspired me to hit up Ocean State Job Lot’s after my PT, where we spent a pretty penny on a fabulous haul, and where I bumped into a member of my local Fb cooking group who also doesn’t know yet what to make for our Sunday potluck ![]()
Dinner was chicken tacos to use up some of the abundant roti chicken in the fridge — mostly dark meat fried up in the chicken fat I’d saved from stock I made a while ago,
topped with quick-pickled red onion, pickled jalapeños, avocado, the last of the aji verde plus various hot sauces, and Sinatra.
I love the char I get on those flour tortillas ![]()
Pretty delish, if I dare say so.
My dude’s marvelous margaritas for dessert to celebrate a happier day.
Do you have a add-on to kitchen machines or a dedicated pasta extruder
