I met up with my film club last night gor a post film discussion to exchange views on the movie Hamnet. Of the 12 of us, 10 of us did not like it. We convened in a new restaurant in a newly opened Marriott hotel down the street from the movie theater. I ordered a virgin mojito and it was the best mocktail I’ve had to date. I ordered a gnocchi with garlic bread however dinner was a flop. The pasta was lukewarm and salty. The garlic bread was warm and buttery but I think they forgot to add the garlic. I will go back for drinks but not the food.
I’ve only eaten a slice or two raw and haven’t had any side effects. I wonder if the cooking process amplifies the effect?
My understanding is, it’s all about quantity. I think 3 oz is the most at one sitting. Yes, I learned the hard way. But it sure is tasty in small amounts!
Well, that is unpleasant. Do you remember how big the filet was?
I’d guess the 3 sashimi slices are probz less than 2.5 oz.
Quick very late night dinner after a long drive at a Sausage/Taco truck (Vanessa’s Hot Dogs)https://www.instagram.com/vanessashotdogs/?hl=en in San Jose - Mexican bacon-wrapped hotdog with the works and fresh fries hit the spot
Thank you for the warning about the oil, I truly appreciate that kind of help.
You’re very welcome, as I’d hate for you to have the same experience we had, which was an (almost) inedible oil slick. Hope you enjoy the recipe as much as we do ![]()
We ate weirdly early tonight – leftover garlic eggplant with seared tofu, zucchini, and chili crisp added, and new blanched broccoli with oyster sauce. I did that thing where I made more leftovers out of leftovers.
A taco meat craving turned into a Mexican feast chez Bionda tonight - served with Spanish rice, cowboy beans (both Rick Bayless inspired) and guacamole. Not pictured, Fritos scoops for scooping!
A gross, rainy day here that practically begged for soup, and I’d had Tuscan soup on my brainz for a while now. I sautéed the last of the chopped leeks in olive oil in the soup pot while simultaneously frying up 3 sliced links each of TJ’s mild & hawt Italian sausages in a separate pan. Added Turkish hot pepper paste to the leeks, then my homemade chicken stock. Two quarts didn’t cut it, so I had to retrieve the last quart from the basement freezer. Guess I’ll be making MOAR Sunday ![]()
To this I added quartered baby yellow potatoes, a 10oz bag of Tuscan kale of which I’d bought two (obvy one too many
), and a can of Great Northern beans. Toasted fennel seeds & a buncha crushed garlic joined the party, as did the fried snossidges. Just before serving I added a very healthy glug of heavy cream & the last of the parsley from the crisper.
Hugely satisfying, and TPSTO leftovers.
Roasted Swiss Italian sausage, broccoli, cauliflower, onion, garlic and red baby bell seasoned with copious amounts of Dash garlic & herb and rpf. Coleslaw with creamy dill dressing.
Swiss Italian sausage?
I had picked up a ham on clearance (after Christmas) and had ear marked it for Easter Dinner. I decided to use part of it tonight and made Mango Ginger Ham over rice with chopped broccoli.
Five Spice Noodles with Tofu and Broccoli - baked tofu is dusted with five-spice powder and pan-seared until browned. In the same pan you sauté broccoli, garlic and ginger and add a sauce made from soy sauce, sriracha, mirin, lemon juice and corn starch. Once the broccoli is tender you add lo mein noodles, scallions and the seared tofu
It’s made by Taylor Sausage in Cave Junction. It has different spices than Italian, allspice and nutmeg I think.
