For Sunday dinner I made Miến Gà - Vietnamese chicken turmeric soup. Turned out a bit bland because i’m supposed to be cutting down on salt (after a lifetime of having low BP, i was just told mine is very high). FEH. I may just turn to meds. I’ve tried Mrs. Dash - hate it - and while I can cut down on some salt I won’t eliminate it. I did find out that MSG surprisingly has about a third of the sodium, so I’ll be using some of that instead of salt when I can. Mostly I’ve stopped eating all the very salty, nightly snacks I was indulging in since I think Thanksgiving! We’ll see what that does to the BP and go from there. I have a new BP cuff monitor on the way (the last one I purchased was giving me erratic readings).
And speaking of salty, for some reason the BF decided to use prepared marinara instead of making his own delicious one, for spag & meatballs last night, and the sodium content in that is sky-high. I scraped some of the sauce away, but still. I did find it salty. It’s hard to believe you become de-accostomed to the salty flavor so quickly (it’s only been about a week that I’ve sort of cut down. But definitely a week since i had any salty snacks.) BF sauteed zucchini as a side, and made me a small salad too.
