Nice spread . Birdwatching the day before Thanksgiving. Loving life .
Not in the mood for dinner. Had third contractor out today to evaluate my water damage that happened in September. Contractors never seem to be able to be on time for an appointment. He was nice, though, and seemed very knowledgeable. He’ll send the estimate to my son and then hopefully get my home back to normal, whatever that is.
Ate my feelings after he left and then took a nap. Here’s something I ate today.
Pork tenderloin, bbq sauce, rice, a combination of three different containers from the freezer, cruciferous slaw with carrot and creamy celery seed dressing.
Icky out today, and the temps have been going down steadily, after a freakishly warm morning in the low 60s. I took my elderly neighbor to her massage appointment, then made my hopefully last supermarket trip to get frozen berries for our dessert tomorrow plus MOAR roti chicken, as I’d been snacking on my PIC’s stash today.
After our extensive socializing & booze break of a whopping 48 hours, we got back on the wagon
and met up with a few friends early eve at our favorite bar downtown. They still had the Thxgiving menu, so we focused on delectable drinks.
It was fun catching up with everyone, especially some of my gal pals I hadn’t seen in a few weeks due to everyone’s busy schedules.
Came home a lil peckish, so I steamed some har gow & beef dumplings for us.
A first try at beer-battered cod, with chips. The crust was nice and crisp, but very thin even though the batter was thick. The fish was flaky and soft. More research is needed. With meyer lemon dijonnaise.
I use Kenji Lopez Alt’s recipe for beer battered fish…it works out well.
Originally, I had planned Paprika Chicken Breasts for Neighbor #2, but she told me she really wanted some homemade hot pockets. Hot pockets are easier and quicker, so it was a win-win to switch her dinner.
Sunshine got pureed lentils
Quick Thanksgiving trip to Santa Barbara started with a first dinner at The Lark https://www.thelarksb.com/ in the Funk Zone. Very well prepared dishes, quite generous portions and good service - good start to the vacation

Castelvetrano olives, calabrian chili, rosemary, orange, mint
Line caught halibut crudo, carpinteria avocado mousse, “regier farms” tangerine, young turnip, agrumato olive oil, red shiso

Beautiful meal
Is it just me, or is the halibut on the lower right wearing sunglasses?
And the one next to it wearing a teeny-tiny bikini
under an umbrella? ![]()
No? Huh. OK, then. ![]()

The bikini one could also be a mustachio’d dude with a wide rim hat ![]()
Ahhhh…perhaps a Frenchman wearing a beret!
Oh la la! ![]()
If you don’t like the cpap, ask if you can get the dental device, instead. It was a game changer for me after suffering through the cpap for a dozen years.
A REALLY nice Thanksgiving dinner at my sister’s SIL’s, dinner made by the BIL (a chef for his own catering company).
Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes, homemade applesauce, green beans with fried onions, mashed sweet potatoes with maple syrup and toasted hazelnuts, canned cranberry sauce, and dinner rolls. There was also stuffing, but I don’t eat that.
Wine choices were multiple reds and whites: Cantina Zaccagnini Pinot Grigio, Cantina Zaccagnini Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Michael David Vineyards Chardonnay, Silk and Spice Red Blend, and Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc. There was San Pellegrino fizzy water for the non-drinkers.
Desserts were also multiple choices: pecan pie, apple pie, GF cupcakes and blueberry muffins, pumpkin pie and chocolate cream pie. Also lobster tails and carrot cake and other things in that box that I dont remember. Oh, and Breyer’s vanilla ice cream and a can of whipped cream. ![]()
Woof. It was good company, good food, good drink, good time.
That’s a really impressive spread! Everything looks delicious and it sounds like you had a lovely time.
Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrated.
My dinner was turkey breast, Pepperidge Farms dressing with leeks and celery, mashed potatoes with butter, sour cream and green onion, gravy made from turkey drippings, flour and turkey broth, whole berry cranberry sauce from the can. Salad was mixed baby greens, fennel, celery, red Anjou, orange marmalade, rice vinegar and oo dressing. Cocktail was a maple syrup Manhattan and there was wine with.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
Mrs. P does not like turkey so she made delicious fried soft shell crabs, that were vacuum sealed over the summer. She also made fried shrimp cocktail with homemade cocktail and creamy horseradish sauce. We had TJ’s sweet potato fries as a side dish. For an appetizer Mrs. P made Jamon stuffed with Humboldt fog cheese, toasted almonds, and reduced balsamic. We started off with an espresso martini and enjoyed an excellent red blend with the main course. We have some leftover soft shell crabs and fried shrimp with some new sides dishes for dinner tomorrow.
Beautiful meal and I know it was delicious. Happy thanksgiving !!
Merci, Happy Thanksgiving to you and family.
