Greek-inspired Lamb Stew with Kritharaki/Orzo - stew was cooked in the oven with cubed leg of lamb, carrots, celery, red onion, oregano, thyme, cinnamon stick, bay leaves, cumin seeds, red wine, diced tomatoes and beef broth. For the last 20 minutes you add orzo and cherry tomatoes and finish with feta.
Those are the best
Yep . I had 2 bites . Called and reserved 4.75 pounds . It rarely comes around . I am going to portion it and wrap in parchment paper and vacuum seal for the freezer.
Sounds relatively similar to youvetsi, minus a few of the seasonings.
@BeefeaterRocksSister You always have the nicest table settings. I am curious though as to what is in the little porcelain dish behind the green beans? It makes an appearance in most of your photos and curiosity has killed the cat ![]()
These always make me stop dead as I’m scrolling through your posts, Eli. And on my large screen at work? ![]()
Glad to hear she’s doing well and that she has such a good caretaker!
They make the best fries; crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. They go great with the black garlic aioli.
Well, so much for a quiet night at home and a booze break ![]()
Our friends from the big city are in town briefly en route to their Thxgiving celebration in OH, and they sent us a text mid-afternoon asking if we would join them for HH drinks to help them celebrate their 53rd — you read that right, their FIFTYTHIRD — anniversary at our favorite bar in town. Twist our arms, why dontcha? A couple of other good friends joined in the fun.
I had a Qui’ir Royale that was a delicious twist on a classic, and a Mezcal Old Fashioned.
The Thxgiving-themed food menu at the bar didn’t speak to me at all & made even our boring-ass leftovers (Friday’s SE Asian ‘risotto’ & the last dredges of Saturday’s delish Indian food) seem more appealing.
Both were nice and spicy, not to mention c-h-e-a-p.
No booze & staying in tomorrow. Pinky promise ![]()
the fishmonger had blocks of Bigeye Tuna this week and i had some leftover lox to get through. did some philly, spicy tuna (not pictured) and avo/tuna rolls. there was enough tuna left to make PoGo the next day (Poke rolled in rice paper with rice noodles and veg).
Thank you so much! You are too kind. If you are talking about the covered dish, it holds butterscotch hard candy. The other dish has dried rose petals because I hate to throw away my roses when they wilt. This is my coffee table in my living room. I like to eat in front of the TV like an uncivilized person.
Had blood work done today to test kidney function. Took myself out to Sizzler afterwards as a reward for eating mostly healthyish since I returned from my road-trip. Was this all I ate? No. Did I forget to take a picture of the salad and the ice cream? Yes.
Potatoes, chicken wings, “nachos”.
Pork dumplings, dashi broth, garlic, ginger, mushrooms, bok choy, a dash of tamari and green onion. Pickled veg, dressed with oo, rice vinegar, sweet chile sauce, Fresno chile and black sesame seeds.
Beautiful Sushi!!
I had some homemade re-fried beans in the freezer for a different dish, but turned them into “Re-fried Bean Soup” for Sunshine. (Mashed Carrots as a side vegetable).
All in all, Sunshine had a good day and continues to heal.
Glad she’s doing so well. Good caretaking helps.
We’re visiting family in the Midwest and made dinner at my MIL’s tonight after hemorrhaging cash eating out the last few days. Grilled pork chop, ww penne and cheese, green salad, and roasted cauliflower and red onion. Given the limited kitchen and dusty spices we had to work with, I’m going to say it was better than expected.
