What's for Dinner #121 - the End of Vacation/Start of School Shopping Month Edition - August 2025

It was an absolute stunner of a day: warm, but not too warm, blue skies, zero humidity. Perfect for move-in day, which I’d kinda blanked one when we made plans to introduce a couple of friends to our favorite taco place in town, which is located near the worst parking lot downtown & surrounded by student housing. We cheated and took the Vespa, otherwise we would’ve circled along a wall of cars as they had to. They finally were able to join us & loved the food. Yay!

The fabulous weather combined with move-in weekend was likely also the reason for how busy the brewery was for our gig :dancer:t2: :man_dancing:t2:

I wasn’t interested in the fish fry or chowder on offer from the food truck & generally don’t eat a big meal before a show, so I was pretty hungry by the time we got home around 10pm.

An old buddy who moved to VA many years ago with his fam was up our way to hang and catch up with other friends, and he’d asked to crash with us. He’s friends with our bassist, so he came over for a nightcap as well.

We made up TJ’s Alsatian tart we had in the freezer to share, after which my PIC was still hangry… yet he refused to have any of several leftovers in the fridge “in front of our guests” (who, btw, weren’t hungry anymore and couldn’t possibly have been less offended by this :woman_shrugging:t2:). So he unsuccessfully tried to order pizza or wings or what have you, which was entirely impossible. Did I mention it’s move-in weekend?

He went to bed grumbling and grumpy, and our buddy and I hung out a bit later and caught up.

Good news for my PIC: we’re invited to a good friend’s retirement (surprise) party tonight, where there will be ample amounts of Indian food.

I also see possible BLTs on the horizon for lunch…yeah, I woke up hungry
