Chipotle spiked shrimp burger with refried beans, roasted tomato salsa, and mayo, along with tater tots.
We had our second PT sesh with our new trainers. We can barely walk or raise our arms above our shoulders. I guess that’s a good sign (?).
Then I had yet another trigger point needling appointment to deal with my chronic pain (the one in late April seemed to only exacerbate the issue, leaving me in pain for most of our Berlin sojourn), and after talking with the doctor we decided against it, since it hadn’t helped the first two times. Instead, we’ll now try lidocaine patches: 12 hours on, 12 hours off in the hopes that the area eventually desensitizes on its own. He also upped my Gabapentin dosage, which is kind of the opposite of what I want: I’d prefer to get off the stuff eventually.
Dinner was inspired by MTS’s mention of National Hot Dog Day here & the unopened pack of 40 (!) Sam’s Club all-beef wieners in our fridge. Our OG plan to grill those fell through thanks to torrential rain, so we air-fried them instead. We each had a dog on a bun & shared a 3rd sans. I had mine with ketchup, mustard & raw onion
(and I really DGAF what my PIC or anyone else has to say about that ). I also made a small wedge for each of us on the side: iceberg, sugar bomb tomatoes, avocado, Wegmans’ thick cut bacon. A mix of the two buttermilk ranch dressings I currently have in the house for me, traditional blue cheese dressing (CK’s of course) for my dude.
Condiments underneath the dog, nice! That’s my preference, too.
The buns were awkwardly small and un-cottony (I also toasted mine cuz I’m extra), so I figured if I put the condiments on top shit’s gonna drop and go flying. Shit still dropped through the bottom fold
Yum! Nice flavors.
Cookout with friends. We brought red cabbage slaw with dates, roasted salted pecans, chives, Asian pear, parsley, and lemon-cider vinaigrette with Aleppo and coriander, turkey-cheese dogs on multi-grain buns, cheez doodles, white wine, and pink-eyed bean hummus with ww pita. Friends supplied cantaloupe, Caprese salad,. charcuterie and cheese, and some more wine. Popsicles and pool time for the kiddos.
I was craving paella. I winged this one. I splurged and bought some Bomba rice.
Scallops, shrimp, Hungarian sausage, chicken
Local raspberries and cream for dessert.
I put the onions underneath, too. Keeps them in place. Had my hot dog for brunch today. Ate it before I remembered to take a photo.
My dinner was also inspired by @mts’s mention of National Hot Dog Day. Johnsonville jalapeno, cheddar sausage cooked on the George Foreman. Mustard, onion, relish on a toasted brioche bun. Potato au gratin (from the freezer) soup because it is chilly. I sauteed bacon, leek, carrot and celery in butter, added chicken broth the chopped up potatoes, a splash of heavy cream and a sprinkle of sharp cheddar.
Another fritto misto: catfish, Yukon golds, zukes, asparagus, romano beans. I forgot to add the baking powder, but it was good even without it. Food mode photo!
I saw @mts post about National Hot Dog day, so last night’s dinner was corn chowder with hot dogs. It was OK. I did take a bowl to Neighbor #2 and told her I could make something else for her if she didn’t like it. She told me she was having a rough day and soup was all she really wanted.
Hey @mts — look at your mighty influence on our dinner decisions!!
Soooo…I’m thinking you didn’t like the chop-chop salad?
I think I’m a rarity and enjoy a relative Plain Jane Dog. I usually only put mustard on my hot dog and that’s it. And the mustard needs to be Gulden’s Spicy Brown mustard.
I rarely eat raw onion (except maybe uber-thin slices or bits of red onion in a salad - and NEVER on a burger!). And for me, ketchup belongs on a burger. No relish, no chili (although I did that once making chili dogs at home; meh, it was OK), no cheese, no jalapenos or peppers of any kind, DEFINITELY no sauerkraut, no guac, no coleslaw…
Oh well - we likes what we likes how we likes it!
To me, it’s the perfect combination of the insane salt level of most any hot dog, the sweetness of the ketchup, the tartness of the mustard, and the bite of the onion.
It is clear the SO did not fall far from the tree. Those are lovely.
