So, so sorry that he is not eating. I will keep him in my prayers.
I’m so sorry.
I’m for both of you.
Tonight I made Massaman curry with a panoply of veg, including a yellow squash volunteer from our friend’s yard. Served over quinoa-brown rice with sesame cucumber salad.
Finally got around to trying the double Filet O Fish meal , also grabbed a Jr Chicken because it wasn’t enough calories

Mid day cocktail hour consisted of San Pellegrino Momenti and vodka. Very refreshing.
Sorry to hear it.
A bits and bobs meal.
Small chicken breast, cut up, seasoned with salt/pepper, and sautéed in some of the oil from some refrigerated sun-dried tomatoes that needed to be used up, and then removed.
Sugar snap peas, red bell pepper and onions were then sautéed in more SDT oil, adding a hefty tsp of minced garlic and about 1/4 cup minced sun-dried tomatoes. Put the chicken back in, added about 1/4 cup of chicken stock, then 1/3 cup Carbone marinara, 1/3 cuo heavy cream, a squish of tomato paste, and a hefty sprinkle of Penzeys Italian herbs with a good pinch of s/p.
Added about 1/4 box or a smidge more cooked penne, plated, sprinkled with grated Parm-Reg and it was dinner.
I had a glass of wine. Because it was a hella week. And yes. I know it’s not over.
Calamari and potatoes braised with soy sauce, wine, cumin, a cinnamon stick, and star anise over noodles. There’s some ginger, garlic, green chiles, and scallions in there too. Other toasted and ground spices were dried red pepper, coriander, black pepper, cumin, white pepper, and Sichuan peppercorns. Sesame oil at the end. Improvised, but inspired by Xi’an Famous Foods Concubine Chicken. Noodles were some Buitoni ones I found in my freezer.
Vegetable Stir-Fry with Fried/Poached Egg - eggplant, zucchini, tomatoes, scallions, garlic and herbes de provence are cooked with vegetable broth, tomato paste and balsamic vinegar. Finished with some poached/fried eggs
Badly needed Chiro visit for him today and I said takeout and we’ll heat it up later. Beef fajitas and all the fixings. Pico to him as usual.
I would like to say this. So much sadness here in the last week. For all our differences and there are many. One big happy family when something bad happens. We all seem to pull together. I like that.
Such terrible news. The absolute worst. He was very lucky to spend his life with you and have you take care of him and make the hardest and most loving decision at the end. We should all be so blessed.
Shrimp and cheesy grits, with bacon, scallions, tarragon, and chives. Hot sauce and lemon on the side.
After possibly The Shittiest Day Of The Year (so far), the cod piccata was postponed yet again. I just couldn’t be arsed to cook. Perhaps tomorrow.
Instead, we ordered from the newly opened pizza parlor in the same location that the old Detroit-style pizza parlor was, and where the former manager (and creator of the amazing pies) now works.
We got our two favorites — the dill pickle ranch is now called Silly Dilly, and the one formerly known as the Triple Threat (tomato sauce, pesto, vodka sauce) now has the astonishingly stupid name AK47. Pie’s the same although the crust could’ve been crispier.
The former manager gave us one pie on the house bc I’d been very supportive of his old store & shared his gofundme when he had insurmountable health bills. He also gave me an “extra hot pepper” I could add and, if I liked it ask for him add it to any future pies. It had a really nice kick to it, similar to Thai bird peppers.
So as to not sit around all evening staring into space/at the now very empty house, we decided to have our buddy over to join us for pizza & a movie (JAWS). We’d over-ordered anyway, and our buddy knew our kitty from the day we brought him home, so we could be sad & distracted together.
Today at Freddy’s it was $5.00 Roasted chicken day so I bought one. When I got home I made a chicken salad sandwich and chips for lunch. I could only eat half so the other half is my dinner. More chips and some pickled things. I’m trying a new to me variety of white wine, pinot blanc. I rather like it. There is ice cream for dessert.
Greens n’ eggs! Steamed broccoli with plenty o’chili crisp and sesame oil, soft-scrambled eggs, and a cold tofu salad on the side.
that is just beautiful!
that sounds like an amazing combination of flavors. love it.
Home alone until Tuesday. Grabbed some wedges out of the treasure chest at the grocery store. Had some little jams from a Xmas basket. Crackers and nuts and tomatoes. Whispering Angel and one shot of fireball to celebrate a season of Real Housewives of OC. I’ll take the lashings… I love some trash tv
I like the sound of this!
