I always need a vacation from my vacation.

I don’t think I have ever seen that fish and I am in Philadelphia, so in the middle of its range! I’ll keep an eye out for it.

It is also marketed as blackfish, so you might see it under that name. It’s really great, if you find it!

Hoping for comfort for Chonk and you.

Smokies. I promise there is meat in mine. I just like them cut in half lengthwise. I prefer toppings to meat. More potato salad. Broccoli slaw.

Cooler tomorrow thankfully.

Steak on the new grill I’m still getting used to. Salad of mixed chicories, sugar snaps and radishes with vinaigrette.

Too hot to use the grill, so I roasted a 1 lb. cod loin in the oven and we had it in tacos with a corn and jalapeño salsa (kinda inspired by esquites), radish, and lime.

We’re donating our ancient Prius to the local PBS station & needed to have our signatures for the title notarized. My PIC had tried to do so yesterday at some local outfit, waited in line forever
only to find out that I needed to be there as well

Today we called AAA to see if they provide this service, and they do! No line, $15 charge, and we would’ve been in and out in under 5 if it hadn’t been for the massive thunderstorm coming through just as we wanted to leave, dumping TPSTOR on the valley & turning the sidewalk into a river.

We stopped at Aldi to redeem a gift card from our house/cat sitter, who works at the university library and has a side gig at Aldi. 3 bags of black tiger shrimp & one bag of the 2 lbs. Fulton market EZ peel jumbo shrimp, and we only owed $0.96 — except we kept misunderstanding the cashier who said “you still have $0.96 on your balance,” to which I initially and sarcastically replied “Awesome! What will I spend that on?” when she meant to tell us that we owed that amount. She probably thought we were total idiots  #jetlagbrainz

Since my dude is still dealing with his GI issues, we just picked up a little sushi to share: salmon & salmon belly nigiri, a yellowtail scallion maki, and white tuna & yellowtail sashimi.

The fish quality was outstanding.

The best news of the day, however: our monkey boy was tempted by @beefeaterrocks suggestion to give him some chicken broth — he’s never been interested in people food & initially only had a couple of sips, but when we got back from our sushi pickup trip he came into the kitchen crying for food again, and I put down more broth between his water bowl and his dry food. He had a little bit of the broth & the food, and a LOT of water :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:. Halle-frickin-lujah, and thank you so much again, @beefeaterrocks :pray:t2:

Oh yay!! Our cats also enjoy the water from canned tuna. I make them “cereal” with their kibbles.

So glad your kitty has some appetite! Hope your PIC feels better soon. Sushi looks great!

New England style chowder with a nice BC halibut, bacon, scallions, celery, spuds, bay, and thyme. A splash of cream, and a dash of tabasco for good measure. Herbaceous buttermilk cat-head biscuits to go with.

Green onions, potatoes, bay, tarragon, and chives from the garden.

That’s fantastic, I hope he keeps it up. :crossed_fingers:

I bring the cheeks and collars back from fishing in Sitka. Gotta be my favorite part of the fish.

I get salmon collars at the farmers market, if I get there early enough. The tempura-fried halibut cheeks were crisp and juicy.
