I had some ground pistachios left over from last weekend’s pistachio-chocolate chip cookies I baked, and went down a recipe rabbit hole on Friday at the American Pistachio Grower’s website. I figured I’d try a few of them that caught my eye throughout the summer.

First up, pistachio-crusted shrimp. I picked up some lovely North Carolina shrimp from Wegman’s today (yes, I made a special trip without getting a haircut!). I didn’t use the green chili because that didn’t interest me, but added some freshly ground pepper to the mix at the end. Could have used a bit more lime juice, and it was pretty good.

Used some leftover orzo and made Pistachio Orzo, and steamed some asparagus.

There was wine. And there will be another Pistachio-Chocolate Chip cookie for dessert.

Clam chowder with bok choy (from a Gramercy Tavern recipe). Because I went to the greenmarket and bought (among other things) clams and bok choy.

We enjoyed another excellent dinner at Drew’s in Keyport, NJ, including BBQ smoked beef cheeks with Ancho BBQ sauce, spicy pickled cabbage, and a side of crispy fries; crispy panko crusted soft shell crabs; Cajun BBQ shrimp; strawberry bruschetta; Cajun crawfish rice balls with Creole mustard aioli; calamari with pickled jalapeño aioli. It all went great with a couple of excellent cabernets. There were plenty of leftovers.

You know about the discount room, right? Southwest corner, past the produce and the fish counter.

The chicken? I’ve made it many time, it is a favorite. The corn too.

Thanks - I sure do! It seems that our shopping overlaps, in place if not in time - the various fish pieces/ chunks from Tokyo Fish have been a great discovery! Recent favorite NYT recipe salmon and kimchi…
