good to know, thanks.
Dinner yesterday was happy hour followed by sushi.

Finished with mochi and a delicious warm giant chocolate chip cookie a la mode.
Love the clothes pin, I’ll have to copy that.
Hey, don’t “loose” your cool over it!
(Inside joke re most weight-loss fora, how no one seems to understand the difference between “lose” and “loose”. There are folks there who try, try, try to get folks to understand the difference, but I just say “Give Up! That Ship Be Sinking!”.)
Chilean (really Australian) sea bass basted in (oat) butter, thyme, and garlic. Got nice and crisp on the bottom, and somehow I managed not to overcook it. Yay! With a white vermouth pan sauce with capers and shallot added after plating. Sides of broiled asparagus and kale Caesar. I made a whole separate meal for our kiddo because I am a sucker.
Panko-crusted halibut tacos with chipotle mayo and cabbage. The only sad thing about this dinner is we used to eat three tacos each, and now we are down to two.
Chicken roasted with a peri peri spice blend.
Cabbage with tomatoes, onions, carrots, dill.
Coleslaw.
Emmer pecan bread, a bit of a fail today but it tastes pretty good.
And…are those Italian runner beans?
They are Canadian-grown greenhouse flat beans. I’m sure they’re related or similar to Italian runner beans, but they’re not labeled as Italian
They’re longer and flatter than the flat green romano beans I grow.
Or just a mom doing her best.
Leftovers of the chicken akhni pulao / Memon chicken and rice from the other day with finger millet papad that I fried as a special treat. I do so love fried papad.
Needed something to soothe a queezy stomach. Potato soup and grilled cheese. Sauteed bacon, onions, leeks, added potatoes, chicken broth and simmered until potatoes were done and then added heavy cream. Blitzed with the stick blender to thicken and served topped with bacon and green onion. Cheddar and gouda on sourdough for sandwich.
Spell it synching. Start trouble.
Beans and greens. Been a while since I made this, so plenty of time for me to forget that yes, beans take three hours, even the $18/lb ones you get at the Greenmarket.* I ate late, is what I’m saying.
*Maybe they’ll be worth it," I said to my gullible self. They were not.
A seafood bean stew: butter beans, sausage, halibut, shrimp, calamari, in home made stock with some cherry tomatoes and feta bits. Some of the beans melted to thicken the stew.
We hadn’t been at 7 Adams https://www.7adamsrestaurant.com/ for sometime to experience their Chef’s tasting menu and so it was time to get back - and it was as good as before. We love the concept of once a week six people at the chef’s counter simply enjoying creativity without much restrictions. And it is good to see the menu complete evolving and changing. It would be great if more restaurants would offer this format even in such limited, intimate setting
