I made this salad with chicken breast, strawberries, goat cheese, and mint. Really tasty. Had to sub green peas for the woody sugar snaps I bought. I seasoned the chicken with bouquet garni. Crispy shallots added post photo for extra crunch. Would make again.

Beefy soup. I sauteed garlic sausage, leeks, shallots, garlic, carrots, celery, added beef broth, bay leaf, potatoes and mushrooms and simmered awhile. Served with parsley, warm baguette and butter, a spinach, green onion, radish, avocado salad, ranch dressing. Wine. 'Twas quit good.

Don’t make me mock your spelling. Even though it’s what I live for.

that looks fab! i miss our camping days and prepping all the meals

I love Liho Liho! I was happy when it moved briefly to the Mission but then it sadly left again, but at least they left behind the quite similar Good Good Culture Club. Beautiful food, and I know it was delicious.

Tonight was Momofuku’s spicy soy noodles, made for A-Sha Noodles. I found a single packet of it at our Mexi-mart. I’d tried a couple other of Chang’s ramen noodles, and wasn’t that impressed, but this was very good. Great texture and quite a potent sauce. I mixed in a ton of scallions, and the BF made me crispy tofu which I sprinkled with my Japanese extra spicy togarashi. Leftovers for bfast. BF made himself a sausage/potato/cabbage stew which wasn’t (for a change) all that photogenic, so no pic.

Speaking of Japanese
sister and I are heading to Japan again on Thursday! Very, very excited.

oh really! i’ll have to look out for them!

Busy day today. Started with a lecture on food history, got my taxes done in Woodbridge, and then swung over to one of the oldest cemeteries in New Jersey (St. Peter’s, Perth Amboy, NJ) to shoot some videos for my channel. An obligatory stop at Costa Verde on the way home for a :cocktail: and some excellent broiled calamari.

Snacked on some leftovers when I got home.

It was was warm and raining in Ottawa last night so I thought "This isn’t too bad! Spring is here!’ Then I woke up to find out the rain turned to snow overnight so it was a winter wonderland out there when I woke up this morning :rage: The only springlike thing on the menu tonight was the spring roll bowl I had for dinner.

Bon voyage! Would you consider giving us a trip report when you get back? (I realize you haven’t even left yet, I’m just asking :grinning:) One of my friends went to Japan a few years ago and, being the foodie I am, I asked her what she ate. She said sushi and that’s the only answer I got :frowning: She’s not as into food as I am

My keyboarder and I met yesterday afternoon to scout the location for a private 80th birthday party at the end of April we just got booked for by a longtime fan, and to discuss our compensation with the host. It was sunnier after several days of gray skies & rain, but the chilly gusts and frosty temps are evidence that PA Fake Spring is real.

I didn’t feel like leftover salmon curry for dinner, nor was I inspired to make anything. Cobb salad was floated as an idea, or pasta, or Abendbrot with the abundance of breads and rolls my sweet friend at the bakery gifted me again
but none of it truly appealed :no_mouth:

And so, my sweets spontaneously took me to one of our favorite restaurants in town

We started off with cocktails — a Peace & Love for me (El Ocho Reposado, velvet falernum, grapefruit, lemon, honey, cracked pink & black pepper, so — basically a twist on a Paloma),

and my PIC had a very good-but-not-as-good-as-his house margarita. We shared a couple of salads & 3 small plates.

My ‘simple’s salad was indeed pretty simple, and the vinaigrette heavy on the vinegar. Sauer macht lustig

My dude’s salad was far more interesting and less tart: arugula, goat cheese, gooseberries, roasted white & purple cauli, almonds, red onion, pomegranate in champagne poppyseed vinaigrette.

The hamachi crudo with ponzu sauce, blood orange, serrano chili, watermelon radish, and sesame was excellent,

whereas the grilled octopus with Spanish romesco, tabbouleh, chive espuma & burnt lime was lukewarm — perhaps a function of resting too long on its accompaniments. That said, it had a nice char & was very tender.

Our final dish was coffee crusted lamb chops on vanilla white bean puree with golden raisins, pistachio, ancho chili dust, and mint chutney. Lamb was perfectly cooked, but also a bit under temp.

My ‘nightcap’ was the Solstice Bloom: strawberry infused mezcal, black barrel añejo, cardamaro, agave, orange & chocolate bitters, rosemary, salt blend rim (which I immediately eliminated bc NO).

Nice, randomly fancy Tuesday meal

Your salad reminds me of this salad I like. I use peaches, pears, or other fruit instead of mangos, when local fruit is in season.

thank you! and yes - I did a big report last time, and plan to do one again! you’ll get so much detail you may be sorry you asked.

It may take me a little while - I’m not back until 4/23, and last time jetlag took me out for a week.
