What's For Dinner #116 - the Mardi Gras / St. Patrick's Day Edition - March 2025

Yeah, she says to blitz them with the aromatics. It was just too much “cream of mushroom soup” vibes for me.

Thanks. Glorified chicken nuggs.

Ginger bok choy soup with noodles. The soup consisted of vegetable broth and grated ginger and garlic. I added one cake of those Y&Y 3 minute noodles, tofu, and bok choy that had been steamed in the vegetable broth.

Milk could be omitted but I think the shiitake will add a lot of umami and should be part of it

Too bad. Happens.

You plating is stunning. To bad that old saying “you eat with your eyes” doesn’t always work.

Sure looks pretty, how sad it was inedible. Nice save though!

Gorgeous-est salad I’ve seen in a while!

WFD is quiche made from leftover spinach-onion-and-gruyere gratin. Store-bought crust. Salad greens in a standard vinaigrette with fruit-and-nut toppers.

An assembly of leftovers tonight.

Salmon with mashed potato (and cauliflower) crust, lentil salad, snow pea salad, and I forgot I wanted to add peas to the fish, so I did that after the pic.

Some more of yesterday’s chocolate cake for dessert.

Tostado Tuesday. Crispy corn tortillas piled high with pinto, poblano refers, ground beef and chorizo, shredded little gem, pico de gallo, extra sharp cheddar and Ortega taco sauce.

Spinach, ham and cheese pasta rolls from Pasta Grannies. The jammys have had cravings for this ever since we last had it, so I made a double recipe. Holy cannoli is this good pasta. Wonder how long the double recipe is going to last?

Thank you!

I had a great dinner at a new-to-me Greek place in nyc. I loved the food, but spoiler, my stomach didn’t. I especially loved the saganaki (seared cheese with honey and lemon.)

Back from an impromptu NYC weekend. I was writing a lengthy post about it on my own FB page and somehow clicked away and POOF - GONE!! I’d worked on it for over an hour, (pics with descriptions, etc.) - so mad! should have posted it on HO first (which saves draft posts). I had not posted all weekend for personal reasons, but still wanted to share. Too mad to recreate it right now, but i’ll probably try again later this week. :sob: :rage:

Back to reality and the BF made me a lovely re-entry meal. really spicy soon tofu soup (Sundubu Jjigae - packaged silken tofu and gochujang broth purchased from H Mart), doctored up with with BF’s jammy egg, and amazing daikon he marinated, scallions, cilantro, sesame seed, plus spinach gomae on the side. I used the whole spicy packet for one serving but there was enough tofu for another whole serving. He also added soba noodles, which were good but too much, so i have leftovers for tomorrow.
