That looks really good! Fresh broccoli?
THAT is some crispy fish - looks amazing!
It was!
Can I ask which pub? I love fish and chips. In fact I almost got that at IKEA last night while I was shopping but then came to my senses. They also have poutine now with meatballs on top! Didn’t get that either…
I may be an outlier in enjoying Ikea food…
I went to Irene’s Pub in the Glebe. I usually get a burger but when I went there last night a man at the next table had ordered fish 'n chips and it looked really good and it didn’t disappoint. They are on Bank about a block or two north of Lansdowne Park.
I don’t mind it. I was famished while shopping and the meatballs and salad definitely hit the spot.
It’s been decades since I was there! Used to go for live music. Will keep it in mind.
They still have live bands! I usually work in the office on Thursdays so the days I go to the Mayfair, I have to go straight from work to the movie theatre because the movies I go to start so early. So I go for dinner after and I usually end up at Irene’s so I can have a beer and burger and listen to the bands I was able to work from home yesterday due to the weather - my boss messaged me on Wednesday afternoon and insisted I work from home yesterday because of the snow storm but it wasn’t that bad in the end. I could have made my way into the office anyway but when my boss insists that I work from home I don’t argue
No… frozen, but still pretty good.
Baked chicken thighs, potatoes, carrots, mushrooms and onions in an EVOO/chicken stock sauce.
I usually add green beans to this, but the ones at the grocery store looked like ass, and not in a good way :D. My taste buds are way off due to whatever affliction that has invaded my body, hopefully I’ll be back to “normal” soon.
Ugh on the crud.
Ya, it sucks, but wadda ya gonna do. Same thing hits me every few years.
I made shallow-fried falafel by doctoring TJ’s mix with crushed chickpeas and lots of fresh parsley. Tucked’em into a ww wrap (TJ’s handmade tortilla) with crispy ras-al-hanout roasted purple cauliflower, tahini sauce, yogurt sauce, chili relish, Lebanese pickled beets, chopped salad, and homemade hummus. I really never should buy hummus again; it’s much better and very easy.
Good idea! How did the falafel turn out?
This sounds amazing
There is an expression in several (all?) Indian languages that means exactly this – directly translates as “my mouth is gone”
They were actually quite good. I wish we had frozen favas that I could have used instead, and I don’t love the dried parsley TJ’s uses. But overall, definitely superior to the frozen ones they sell. My downstairs reeks of oil though – even with venting.
With any luck I might be able to drop a few lbs
Oy. The second-worst kind of weight loss.
