A rainy, chilly day called for mostly staying home, save for a trip to Wegmans, TJ’s, and Aldi. Wegmans for their fabulous chuck & brisket patties and sharp American cheese, TJ’s for their hawtt & sweet Italian sausages for my Sunday potluck, and Aldi for their fluffy sesame brioche buns & the gem lettuce mix I’d promised to pick up for our elderly neighbor who’s down with a cold, and who loves it just as much as I do
Cheeboygahs WFD: aforementioned bunz & patties, sharp American, thiccc-sliced red onion, shredded iceberg, and a boygah sauce with ketchup, brown mustard, Duke’s and finely chopped German-style pickles I unearthed from the depths of our fridge. L&W hand-cut fries with MOAR ketchup and kewpie for dippin’. Mexicoke on the rocks to drank with.
Garlicky mushrooms and chicken breasts (with bacon) from Food52 and as shared by @BeefeaterRocks. Served over curly egg noodles, with salad greens in vinaigrette on the side.
Pretty darn delicious. Probably richer and more complicated than I would opt for on a week night, but def worth keeping in mind for when the situation calls for something rich, smokey, hot, and creamy.
Leftover night! Leftover fried halibut and poached salmon and shrimp, over whole wheat linguine tossed with softened cherry tomatoes, olives, feta, and EVOO.
