The fishmonger sells inexpensive halibut trim, but this one was more of a slab. Pan fried, with fries and meyer lemon Kewpie aioli. The chunk at the lower right was a stoned idea: mix the leftover flour, panko, and egg and fry it with the fish. It almost worked! Next time I’ll add some baking powder.
No reason for shame from my point of view.
They may have it, but my eyes refuse to see it if it’s on the menu. Just not going to go there.
Haddock crusted with mashed red potatoes (garlic, rosemary, thyme, and cheddar in the potatoes). Adapted from this Food and Wine magazine recipe:
Coconut coffee porter for him and chardonnay for me.
Bought a basic pepperoni pizza from a local joint($10.99 for a Med) and added some stuff I had lying around in the fridge, feta, caramelized onions, giardiniera, Parm/Regg and a dash or 2 of hot sauce. Busy but delicious.
Doooo iiiiiiittt!
ALL SOBA SOUP ALL THE TIME!!!
Also, that there is complete sentence. Don’t test me, moderatorbot.
It won’t let you post only all caps because it’s the internet version of yelling at people
I know. But apparently if you yell and then say something in a modulated tone, that’s fine.
Yes. Just not a message that’s only all-caps.
We run into this every month / quarter on the various cook-along threads, where nominations are required to be in all-caps for easier counting.
Well, you know me. Sometimes I get excited and I have to yell.
That’s a pain. Maybe italicizing would work instead of all capsing?
Yeah, something like that maybe.
Tonight I made Chinese noodle soup from recipetineats. The broth is lovely and she recommends different proteins and veg you can add to the soup so its a nice way to finish up leftovers.
Dessert was a tiramisu (which broke as I was trying to take it out of the container ) and a vanilla hazelnut coffee. The tiramisu was a little too moist for my liking.
After an uneventful day with an incredibly underwhelming lunch but good food shopping — Scottish lox, smoked steelhead & a few bagels from Biederman’s, tonight’s dinner was an easy-peasy super-lazy affair of leftover Tuscan soup from the freezer & a salad.
As you can see, the white beans all but disintegrated into the soup, giving it extra heft
Those pepitas really add a nice kronch as a topper
We’ll be using this slogan in our house: “busy but delicious”!
It was a bit tricky keeping all the toppings on there without them falling off, but it was well worth the effort
