Broccoli? He would never.
I hope your brother in law is doing better now. Eight months is a very, very long time.
If it’s green, my son won’t consider eating it. Except the very light green of pistaschio gelato.
When he was much younger, he ate a couple of old-school bakery cupcakes with green frosting. The taste was fine. The dye showed up in the toilet. He hasn’t eaten a cupcake since.
That sounds tricky to navigate. I’m glad he has such an understanding adult in his corner. Our kiddo is becoming more accepting of foods, and at the very least, he’s willing to periodically try things he knows he doesn’t like. So that’s something – for him.
Thank you. It wasn’t 8 months straight but it was still an ordeal. Luckily things are going amazingly well.
So, at least 2-3 more days of hospital food since my final stent procedure was pushed (yet again!) to Monday. Yay, Me.
Went with a cheeseburger (dry…forgot to ask for ketchup…and oddly crispy), potato chips, a garden salad with 1000 Island dressing, and a really good chocolate chip cookie.
And a late sunset pic of my view, mostly the Burlington Mall parking lot lights. Wegman’s is off there in the distance as well. But the sunset was pretty. And at least it’s not HVAC units as I saw others have when I went for a walk this afternoon with my IV pole.
He came to us at age 7 from foster care with 7 years of food trauma, deprivation, etc. It’s a work in progress. He’s doing really well and trying different things at a much faster pace. It takes time and patience and compassion. It was difficult for me at first. I adjusted, and then he did…
That is so good to hear! Best wishes to all.
Sending golden light and best wishes for your continued progress. What a great view. Seeing some snippets of nature from a hospital window can make such a big difference (i had three joint replacements, only 2 -3 nights each, really appreciated the nice view i had once).
No Jello?? I thought it was mandatory that hospitals push jello. (LOL)
A bumpy start to the weekend…as in I literally bumped into the coffee table leg with my second toe just moments before we were ready to leave for a couple HH drinks at a jazz club in CC
Limped to the subway, limped to the club to find not one open spot at the bar, limped out of the bar to get an Uber to a neighborhood joint for our plan B. Stood in the freezing cold on Broad for 5 min when the driver decided to cancel our ride
Got on the subway back south — an express train that usually stops at our station. Not today, Satan. Today, the express train was heading all the way to the stadium for some dumbass basketball game
Grabbed a Lyft from there to the bar. Had a couple brewskies, split the decent buffalo wings as they no longer have the pineapple-habanero wings
then ordered the smashburger & the hot dog.
Smashburger was perfect, the dog not so much, unfortunately, as it seemed to have rested beneath its toppings a bit too long and was lukewarm.
Back home now for martinis. Don’t think I’ll leave the house again till March or so…
Is that smashburger thick, or is it just the angle of the photo?
It looks thicker than it was, although probably still slightly thicker than your usual smashburger.
NYT recipe, Shrimp Scampi With Crispy Gnocchi. I used Rana skillet gnocchi, they were a little chewy but everything tasted good. Grilled asparagus, butter, Aleppo pepper. Caesar salad. Wine.
Last night’s WFD was a holiday treat in the city at our beloved Met Bar & Grill.
Tonight, after a day of holiday shopping, was Milk Street’s Turkish lentil soup with spinach - served with chili oil and lemon wedges - accompanied by a quick yogurt naan.
I used up the balance of one of my two bags of potatoes, and made this sliced potato, hamburger & cheese dish.
Sunshine is feeling much better and asked for some Chocolate Peanut Butter rolls for dessert, so I made up a batch. Her appetite has returned. YEAH!!
So good to hear from you @LindaWhit & glad you have been moved out of CCU! Sending wishes for your continuing recovery
I have had my share of nights like that. You have my sympathies.
I’d love to have a thick burger with that smashburger crust but rare on the inside. Pittsburgh rare?
