Leftover penne from the other night, added more fried onions and chorizo, a splash of veal stock and some baked Kirklands meat-a-balls. This was even tastier than the other day! I love leftovers  :pinched_fingers:

Christmas dinner was Turkey (breast), stuffing, corn, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy and rolls. I cheated and purchased the rolls from Dollar Tree. The “Glen and Friends – youtube” homemade rolls would have been so much better, but I was lazy.

Everything is cleaned up… Christmas is winding down and we had a nice day.

Hope everyone else had a Merry Christmas!!

Glad you got home safely!

Our young adult son, 25 (adopted age 7, to explain family situation) and we 2 older adults (69) were happy to have his older sister and her two children, 4 and 9, visit yesterday. So much energy and bouncing around, and yes, loud. We all really loved seeing them, and we we all exhausted when they left. And glad to have peace and quiet while enjoying the photos from the visit afterwards.

I got take out from the pub around the corner in Somerville that his sister’s family enjoys. Hardly exciting, but works for them. We had a very disappointing meal at Mamaleh’s in Kendall Square, Cambridge today. We won’t be returning.

I’m making our family favorite fancy Spanish “french toast” torrijas for a late breakfast tomorrow. Looking forward to that. It’s a kind of complicated recipe mostly for timing, but worth it to me.

This year my dinner club went for Christmas dinner at our usual spot The Shore Club. Food, drink, and service are usually spot on but they really dropped the ball last night. The waiter came around and took our drink orders and broughr us menus. When it came time to place our orders the waiter started with me. However I was having difficulty deciding what I wanted so I asked to take everybody else’s orders so I could go last. He proceded to do so then left so I waited for him to come back to take my order. So I waited and waited and waited… Then appetizers started coming out so he seemed to have forgotten about me. I told one of the wait staff that I was ready to order so she said she’d get our waiter then left and didn’t come back. So I waited a few more minutes and tried again. Our waiter was found and dispatched to take my order. He apologized saying he forgot about me. I placed my order however they seemed to be screwing up the mains. Three of us ordered the prime rib in different levels of doneness. I asked for medium rare however it looked more like rare to me and the other two asked for medium but their prime rib looked like medium rare. The meat could have been a little warmer as well. We were too afraid to send our dishes back to the kitchen fearind we would never see them again. Th waiter also brought me someone else’s side and I saw a few other mix ups being made. I know it’s Christmas but there were an unacceptable amount of mix ups as far as I’m concerned. I was considering leaving a smaller tip but since I was with a large group, an 18% gratuity ws already included on our bills. I ended up with a sour taste in my mouth.

And now for pictures:

Wedge salad (my favourite!)

Room temperature, undercooked prime rib:

Excellent sticky toffee pudding:

And to drink I ordered a Southern Belle (non alcoholic whiskey, ginger beer, lime, and a bunch of other stuff). I liked this drink so much I had two of them!
