I’m up for picking some day(s) in November/December. As you’ve said more people =more things to try!
That would be superb!
After two nights in a row of dining out — even for celebratory reasons, and with yet another coming up Monday —it was time get back in the kitchen where I belong
We picked up “fiery orange” marinated salmon filets at the Sprouts market that went in the air-fryer, and I stir-fried some broccoli in Sichuan oil with garlic & a buncha chili crisp. No SALAD, IYCBI!
We also completely forgot the Beecher’s frozen mac we’d picked up to see what all the rave reviews are aboot, but I’m glad we did bc there was plenty of food. I even have a lil broc leftover for lunch tomorrow
Risotto of sole and peas, with parsley and fresh oregano. I used shrimp stock I made earlier in the week and some rosé that needed to be finished. Nice on this rainy evening!
Take-out from an old favourite, David’s Bistro in London, Ontario.
Caesar salad
Lamb rib with shrimp
Scallops with corn risotto
Ribeye with potato gratin
Chicken Francese with mashed potato
Sticky Toffee pudding, which I warmed up before serving.
Would do it again.
Neighbors over to meet my fam and have kid playdate. Went swimmingly. I put out a lot of snacks and cut up a big pizza pub style, served with meatballs the kids didn’t finish. Brownies a la mode for dessert. Lots of wine to fortify before the storm.
Fall is here.
Pan-roasted Kurobuta bone-in pork chops. NYT’s creamy mac-and-cheese (+leftovers). Roasted carrots. A choice of homemade applesauce or pear-butter (or both).
Carrots, apples, and pears from the garden.
Kimchi fried rice, a favorite 'round here. Haven’t made my own kimchi in months, what with the BF’s dental issues, but i picked some up from a banh mi shop in the East Bay that I really love and decided to mince it finely for this dish, in addition to minced Chinese sausage. Plenty of gochujang & gochugaru, too. Turned out great, BF had two bowls.
Long, irritating day. So! crispy okra with homegrown, home made pickle! goes a long way toward improving my mood.
Shrimp & egg salad over salad salad.
The shots aren’t pleasant, but the certainly beat the alternative. I had gotten Zostavax, the 1 shot vax that has been withdrawn, but got the Shingrix as soon as I could. I have friends who refuse to get it.
I’d take a hundred shots if it meant that I wouldn’t get shingles again
Your experience and a good friend of mine’s def convinced me to get them. Thankfully, I had zero side effects from either shot. All that clean living, I suppose
I hear you. They say they don’t want to risk Guillain-Barré syndrome. But they get other vaxxes with a risk of GBS, so
Agreed. Getting 2 shots that are good for 5 years? Yup, easy-peasy lemon squeezy. (food reference )
What a finale!
That, and the pork cheeks are the most appealing to me.
Of course the pudding comes in the largest container! Yum!
The restaurant owner gave us a massive portion! It was part of a 3 course prix fixe, so it effectively cost us $5 last night, when the portion is usually personal-sized , and $14 à la carte!
