Watched a good deal of the gymnastics competition today (WOW!!!) while the world seemed to be ending outside,

then — once the torrent had stopped — I ran a few errands for one of my gal pals who’d just come down with Covid. She wanted Caprese for dinner, so I went to the farmers market for the tomatoes, TJ’s for the burrata, and Wegmans for a prescription she needed. We’d not been to TJ’s in a while, and I also picked up these two (new to me) products

that’ll likely make an appearance in a pasta production soon

I just barely managed to drop it all off at her place and make it home in time before another massive thunderstorm hit. Good thing we had nowhere else to go, we have a roof above our heads, and food in the fridge — and power, at least so far. We are lucky :pray:t3:

We ate a bit later than expected, as my PIC had another live podcast interview that was supposed to end at 8pm but ran late  He’s just so darn interesting :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Easy dinner of leftovers from Sunday’s Q. A lovely BA chop plus the lamb ribs I defatted as much as possible & then gently reheated in the oven, tzatziki & the tiny bit of melidzanosalata,

plus broc sautéed with the onions, garlic & herbs the lamb was marinated in. No pic bc by the time Mr. Popular emerged from his study it was no longer vibrantly green. Tasty tho.

Wish we had started in on this lovely rack first

after we polished off the steak. MOAR lamb left for tomorrow, I guess.

Pan-roasted chicken thighs. Garden green-beans sautéed in bacon fat, seasoned simply with salt and pepper. Leftover scallion-mashed potatoes. A tarragon-chive green sauce for schmearing over whatever, but which went especially well with the smashed spuds.

Yesterday evening I went down to get a couple of plums for a smoothie and ended up with 2# of plums I picked up off the ground. I decided to make Asian plum sauce, hence tonight’s dinner.
Pork meatballs (ground pork, ginger, garlic, fish sauce, tamari, cilantro) baked in plum sauce. Stir fried veg, carrot, red pepper, onion, garlic, shiitakes, baby bok choy, snap peas and chile crisp. Cucumber and red onion with oo, rice wine, sweet chile sauce and black sesames.

Last day of July! Wow. The kiddo and I made tomato meat sauce from scratch after seeing the prices for jarred sauce in the store. Turned out really well and for sure healthier and more economical. Served with trottole pasta and steamed broccoli with oo and truffle salt.

Tonight is a two-for-one night - last night’s dinner and tonight’s.

Last night I started with dolmades then had stirfried pork with five vegetables.

Tonight I had yet more dolmades (appetizer) then spring mix (salad course) then chicken in mushroom sauce and egg noodles (main course).

Had a full day at work, despite continuing jet lag  Dinner was an adaptation of this recipe:

BF had pulled salmon fillet out of the freezer so I skinned it and used most of the sauce ingredients to make a tahini/chile/onion crust. I added a bloop of tamarind concentrate and subbed sesame seeds for the pine nuts called for. Very good, considering my energy level.

I went healthyish with salad for dinner: CSA lettuce, Genova tuna, peas, corn, red bell peppers, cukes, radishes, goat cheese, and a lemon-tarragon vinaigrette.

It was very good. (Pic taken pre-vinaigrette.)

Penne with Brussels Sprouts, Bacon and Parmesan from “Dinner” by Melissa Clark - You start by sautéing bacon and rosemary, then add crushed garlic and jalapeños and cook until you get nice browning. Add sliced brussels sprouts and cook until well browned, add butter and penne pasta. Finish with lemon juice, olive oil and parmesan
