Yes, for about 3:00. Comes out like this:
Ah, that might be my problem. I didn’t cook in advance. I have plenty of wonton wrappers and sauce, so I’ll have to try again.
Asparagus, pancetta, and caramelized onion quiche and a small salad (not pictured).
Not the best I’ve done by a long shot, but not bad.
Sunday Supper! Spiced rub pork roast, homemade pilaf, roasted sweet potatoes and some zucchini with Rotel tomatoes. Yum! Some had rice pudding for dessert, others went with ice cream. I am sticking with my wine. Have a good week.
Roasted monkfish with garlicky tomato sauce, chickpeas, roasted broccoli rabe, and whole wheat couscous.
last night at my sister’s, she made an SRF corned beef that she got at Costco after St. Paddy’s day, but we were starving and pulled it too early, so the connective tissue hadn’t broken down - rather tough. After dinner, though, she put it back in the boil and we got a taste of it in its perfect state - tender, fatty, chewy, melty. Still, the flavor was fantastic. To go with, I made honey/ cumin/coriander/glazed carrots with a tahini/yogurt/garlic/lemon/smoked paprika sauce that turned out great, and she also made cabbage, simply braised in butter and sprinkled with s&p and a little sherry vinegar on the plate - delicious!
We brought dinner to a brewery for an outdoor bday party. Brisk. Smoked St. Louis ribs, bacony potato salad with parsley and shallot-Dijon vinaigrette, cornbread, and broccoli salad with tomatoes, grapes, raisins, toasted almonds, and cashew dressing. They brought strawberry cupcakes for the birthday peeps.
Puttanesca-inspired linguini with Azorean tinned tuna (conserva) and silky Portuguese olive oil. This is what’s for dinner after a visit to Portugalia Marketplace in Fall River, MA. (Report on that coming soon. )
Since I had my big meal at noon I had a shrimp salad for dinner.
Eaten while listening to “Heart of Glass” sung in Inuktitut. I wonder when Maestro Fresh Wes will be on…
Homemade dough for calzone. Italian sausage, ricotta provolone, mozzarella and spinach. A little salad to go with it.
In the If-You-Want-Something-Done-Right-Then-Do-It-Yourself category: a proper grilled chicken Caesar served with lotsa parm and warm, garlicky, French bread croutons. The anchovies are in the homemade dressing.
A surprise day of sunshine. Chicken piccata, asparagus with aioli, my squeeze bottle was plugged with garlic so I ended up with blobs. Salad of romaine, mixed greens, green onion, celery, orange baby bell, roasted golden beets, honey mustard dressing.
Early birthday dinner for the hubs.
Serious Eats "Pan roasted chicken breast with lemon and rosemary", garlicky chard. I forgot the lemon juice.
And there was cake!
HBD to your husband! Both chicken and cake both look fab!
Strudel (phyllo dough) with a filling made from Italian pork sausages, mushrooms, egg, milk-soaked bread, panko crumbs, onions, garlic, cayenne pepper, spinach and pistachios
Both squared
To me, nothing says happy birthday better than chocolate cake. Happy birthday to your husband!
A seafood feast last night: super-fresh soft-shell crabs, grilled oysters, raw stone crab claws, pan-seared mahimahi (the gas in the grill ran out, it was supposed to be grilled as well), roasted asparagus, risotto, salad.
Everything was fantastic, as usual. I honestly don’t know where we put it all
Pasta dinner for our penultimate night. We are spoiled
