I can find the green one at Hannaford and Star (although I haven’t looked recently). The black label reserve was an impulse buy when I was browsing Amazon. I’ll have to see if it is at one of those next time I there.
It’s very tasty!
I found some SRF wagyu top sirloin steaks on sale half-off at our local grocery – yay!
Steak and Caesar with marble-rye croutons.
totally get that!
Sunny day #2. Chicken piccata, asparagus with aioli, Caesar salad with homemade dressing and croutons.
I didn’t know SRF sold in stores, I thought it was just mail order.
Same here! I was so surprised to see them, and then see the “Manager’s Special” tag. I loaded up on the top sirloin, but ignored a second cut (shoulder cut?) which also was on offer. Feeling regretful later in the day, I went back to take a second look, and all the cuts “on special” were gone, and replaced with a fresh, full-priced batch.
Next time I’ll know: you snooze, you lose! The top sirloins we had for dinner were excellent, and you can’t beat a good quality steak for 4 bucks.
Another farro salad. This one includes roasted beets
Also dried cherries, roasted cipollini onions, apples, celery, feta, lettuces, toasted walnuts,…
I love that drink. Sometimes I’ll have two, making the first a Penultimate Word.
My friends with kids mos def have their bragging moments, i.e. sharing their joy and perhaps even a modicum of parental pride over their offspring’s culinary achievements – minor as they may be…. and how could they not, when I am familiar with their daily struggles feeding a cranky toddler as well
@digga 's suggestion for a child-centric thread seemed to indicate to me that it would be different from adults sharing the “highs and lows of their lives” in WFD, which is why I encouraged her to start one.
Lol nicely done
(I’d just like to let you all know that my dog won’t eat Kraft Singles, but will eat Old Cheddar.
I have no kids, so I’ll fill you in on my fur babies’ food news!

My band has a show tonight on our favorite stage in town. I’ve included all 8 of our original tunes in the set in preparation of our studio taping for the local PBS station next week, something I’ve been trying not to think about too hard bc I’m positively freaking out over it
The venue moved their live music from 8-10pm to 7-9pm, which this old lady very much appreciates – I may be home as early as 10:30pm!
Despite hired entertainment getting 50% off, I doubt I’ll be eating there – I’d rather spend my pay on martinis & suck down some har gow when we’re back home. Hoping to see a bunch of friends who stayed behind for spring break like we did
PS: On second thought, that steak tartare sounds pretty good, actually…
My sib’s dogs have very specific tastes in people food. Including indian food.
(When I got back after Covid, I couldn’t eat pizza without saving the crusts for them for ages — and I actually eat my crust, I had to stop because they gave me the guilt tripping looks for cleaning my plate )
One of our dogs is especially excited when he smells that we are having chicken for dinner, and when I start peeling carrots. He also perks up when he hears the sound of me scraping leftover rice from the saucepan into a bowl after dinner.
Anytime our cat hears cellophane or a foil-lined bag crinkle, she scrambles into a tizzy thinking it’s treats.
I personally think the Final Ward variation is even tastier.
