Thanks! In the days after WW2, Japanese people were very self-conscious about leaving food because of food shortages, but that soon changed. My sister and mother used to drag me to buffets here in Las Vegas and I would feel sick. COVID led to the demise of most buffets here and now I don’t need an excuse to not want to go to one! YEAH!

Another planned leftovers night: the last of the black eyed peas and collard greens. We had them with herbed cornmeal and cheddar dumplings (New Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook, 1996). Perfect for the rainy, cold, and raw weather we had all day today!
Also - can we talk about how awesome the El Yucateco Black Label Reserve hot sauce is? It’s a smoked habanero hot sauce. Added a great smoky note without needing to add any ham or anything (although that is always more than welcome here). I think this is my new favorite hot sauce!

As a lover of the green version, I must say that I especially enjoy the black label reserve! If you can’t find it near you, it is available on Amazon.
I could only get the green sauce in FL of all places! I saw it at Publix last spring break and grabbed a bottle. Might “import” some when I’m back down there in a couple of weeks - but if they don’t have it I’ll def order some. Thx for the tip

Rana 5-cheese tortellini with sauteed sweet Italian sausage and broccoli florets, with a sauce of Pomi crushed tomatoes, Italian seasoning, heavy cream, and freshly grated Parm-Reg. More Parm-Reg sprinkled on top.
Needed garlic and maybe some RPF or Aleppo pepper in the sauce, but it was good.
Wine. It is, after all, my Friday since I’m off tomorrow. (Waiting on Verizon dude.)

My darling was craving a burger, and so cheeboygahs for dinner it was: chuck / brisket mix topped with extra sharp ‘murrcan cheese – both from Wegner’s, sesame brioche buns from Aldi, a shmear of mayo & ketchup for me, ketchup & mustard for him, shredded ice berg & a fat slice of raw red onion for both of us.
L&W fries on the side with kewpie & ketchup for dippin’. It’s been a while since we’ve had those, and he baked them to a perfect crispy outside and fluffy inside

Catching up slightly. Monday night before the election we had chicken Italian sausages braised with red onions and balsamic. Tasty, but the sausages do need to be browned first. Served with leftover mushroom trofie pasta.
Last night we were invited over our friends’ place for impromptu burgers and tots. I got a bit buzzed on the Last Word she made me on an empty stomach.
Tonight we split some sweet chili wings out and will be eating refrigerated egg rolls from Aldi as a second course at home. We’re both pretty tired still after a busy few days.
