Took our friends on another walking tour through a formerly east nabe & the Turkish part of ours. Gelato is always in order when yer shlepping around town. From the very popular ice cream parlor Aldemir: a gorgonzola / fig scoop, and mango sorbet. Our friends also got the 'zola / fig and a nicely tart passionfruit.

Minion themed Krispy Kreme anyone? I had a quarter of the chocolate sprinkles ring doughnut. I was trying to neutralise the taste of the ‘Straight outta Chompton’ Maple Bacon Flavour American Waffles snack I had the misfortune of trying. Even the fat/sugar magic of the Krispy Kreme couldn’t remove that synthetic maple bacon flavour from my mouth. 10 hours left on the night shift…

I had picked up some more Lori Anne peaches at Wegmans on Monday after a health appt, so several became part of individual Independence Day desserts.

Peach Crisp with fresh whipped cream and a strawberry sauce drizzle, because peaches are as American as apple pie. Or peach pie. But in a crisp instead. Local strawberries for the drizzle.

I stopped by my father and stepmother’s place for a visit this afternoon, since his birthday was yesterday, and brought some treats from the cafe around the corner from them: date mamoul; pitachio baklava and kataife birds nest; and two confections, pomegranate rose at 3 o’clock and blackberry pistachio at 5 o’clock.

Beyond delicious! A Chinese chiffon cake, in this case a “spongie”, sliced horizontally, I used about 1/2 for one dessert. Raspberry coulis, sour cream , mint, a trio of berries…I don’t think I can improve on this !

And you can make an almost Lamington from the bottom two slices of the Spongie. I used the fresh raspberry compote for the filling and to brush on the sides to adhere the coconut. Will do again!

Nothing feeds a sad soul like a proper sundae on a steamy afternoon. The farm near us makes their own ice cream & is just a 5 min drive. We shared a banana split with coffee, chocolate & peanut butter ice cream, replacing the crushed pineapple with peanut butter sauce. Good choice

At first we wondered whether we’d be able to finish it all as they are YUGE, but we somehow managed to do just that in less than 10min. It was melting pretty quickly, too, so… that’s our excuse :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Can a Spongie be a raspberry strawberry shortcake? Why yes, yes it can!

Did your boy like ice cream or whipped cream :icecream:?

He was generally pretty uninterested in people food — unlike our first cat, The Dude, who loved roast chicken & roast beef, and once famously sucked the filling out of a cream puff overnight that he must’ve managed to snag off our poker table. All that we found on the living room carpet the next day was the empty shell :smirk_cat:

Pistachio and apricot jam faux Lamington, the FM had beautiful apricots this morning and I made a small pot of jam from some of the apricots. It was delicious with the pistachio coated cake.

Gotta be some award for spending the afternoon in an emergency DMV visit. Coffee and hazelnut gelatos to the rescue.

Make that some reward. Mind addled by the zoo that is the local DMV.

Hot milk sponge cake , a recessed center has raspberry compote, fresh raspberries, apricot and sour cream. Exterior of cake was brushed with apricot jam and dusted with confectionery sugar. @Saregama inspired by our conversations regarding hot milk sponge cakes.

Little cakes with raspberries, apricots and pistachios. A nicely crisp exterior with a fine crumb and the delicious taste of almond flour. This lends itself to many different fruit combinations , next one will be plums and blackberries.

2 scoops of gelato - ricotta and fig, and pineapple and basil. Yum.

I had a kabocha, avocado, and coconut shake in Bangkok yesterday. That was the bee’s knees…and naturally, I forgot to get a photo of it.

I remember getting sticky rice and mango delivered in simple plastic bags in the tiny village up north my ex and I stayed for a few days.

ETA: Aw. You edited out your photo. Now my comment makes no sense :frowning:
