I’m not a huge sweet eater, but am a bit of a sucker for tahini in desserts and I think I’ve just found my ideal. I got this salted Honey Tahini Cake at Talbot and Arding in Hudson, NY. They’ve had the cake since they did a book signing with Rachel Simons - author of “Sesame” and owner of Seed and Mill and I put off buying it until yesterday. Now I’m mad at myself for waiting and am hopeful they keep it in stock! I saved a few bites to have with coffee this morning and am so pleased with that choice!
5 Ataulfo mangoes for upcoming desserts/breakfasts. Might have to request my PIC turn the last two into soft serve…
Lovely! The crumb looks really moist😋
Thanks, BG! A lot of fruit went into the cake and it’s perfectly moist without being “stodgy”, the crumb is nicely baked.
Peach tart with toasted almond slivers, brushed with a little ginger preserves. Planning on plopping a scoop of peach gelato right in the middle. Delicious peaches, sweet and juicy, I got some more of them at the FM.
So pretty! What’s under the peaches? I brought my fam a couple that may need to become crumble or a tart.
Thank you! Just peaches, Moondust to catch the juices, maybe 3/4T sugar sprinkled on top, great peaches don’t need too much else. I debated about using peach jam or the ginger, had I thought ahead, as I made two, I could have done one of each.
Peaches, pecans, brown sugar and bourbon, definitely golden brown and delicious. The tart may get a dollop of sour cream or ice cream.
Well, we held out 3 weeks. But today we simply had to order cookies from our Turkish bakery: CC walnut & triple chocolate pistachio.
Both were still warm from the oven, with the CC walnut cookie being particularly gooey, so I had a piece of the triple chocolate pistachio cookie instead.
I went to see the movie Sorry, Baby tonight with one of my meetup groups. I loved it, would recommend it and would see it again. We convened at a nearby restaurant for drinks and nibblies and an animated discussion after. I had a blueberry shrub and a blueberry cheesecake. Both were delicious.
A few tarts for dessert today, peach/blueberry/pistachio
apricot/raspberry/ pistachio
Yellow plum/ blackberries/almonds
And one that didn’t fit on the plate, purple plum/ almonds.
Wow! Did you make all of those? Do you have a walk-in freezer?
Yes I made them, I generally only make a pint or so. Yesterday I made dulce de leche , about 1 1/2 pints…that’s generally the max I make.
Yum! In what order do you eat them?
I usually wear a blindfold and try to identify them😂.
