What's for breakfast (2026)

Revisiting NYT’s sheet pan doner kebab (gift link). I made sure to spread the mince all the way out to the edges this time, leaving nothing exposed. Still, the meat pulled back during cooking, rendering a bit of char around the edges. I guess that’s just par for the course. It’s tasty, and if one has leftover mince and pitas on hand, a qualifier for “stupid easy”. The egg didn’t hurt.

Not as big as @PedroPero’s sammich, but this grilled cheese hit the spot.

Helped soak up last night’s mistakes

A “Treat Myself” Day.

Also a “My Eyes Are Bigger Than My Stomach” Day. :woman_shrugging:

Picked up a loaf of Jessica’s Brick Oven French Toast Bread yesterday at MB to make…what else? French Toast.

Should have just gone with 2 slices, as these are pretty thick. Couldn’t eat it all.

But it was pretty good…just enough cinnamon in the bread. Real maple syrup on top, and 2 slices of Tender Belly thick-cut bacon.

Thick French toast and thick bacon = thick me.

Woo-hoo. I’d have added a Mimosa, if I could. :joy:

Me(ekah) thinks something very similar is coming to a plate @casa lingua very soon :face_savoring_food:

Hold the mimosa, tho — I’m on a booze break till Wednesday

Sigh. Wednesday. I’m coming up on one year, thanks to my docs who have made my food life miserable. I guess the point is keeping me on this side of the grass. Gonna go exercise now ..

Well, :poop:

Totes cooked the yolks, so no luxurious Strammer Max for me. Justa failed ham, cheese & egg sammich.

Returning from a stand up workshop positively starvated I made bacon-fried rice inspired by @ricepad — alas not with the Lancaster 5-spice bacon, as we still had ye olde bacon to finish up first.

We also had a wee bit o’ rice from last night’s takeout, 2 sooooper-fresh eggs from my buddy’s hens, but unfortunately zero veg to add — besides scallions and Sinatra. I also added hot chile powder & kumquat hot sauce for a kick

Sustenance.

Yeah, I got that. Frank would not have left little green flecks in the finished dish.
