What's for breakfast? (2025)

Lefse rollups from one large sheet-- half filled with scrambled egg/cream cheese / dried dill, the other half spread with cinnamon honey butter. Two more large sheets of lefse are still in my freezer, purchased in early December. Amazing since a package usually is gone within 2 weeks. This booklet may need to be consulted. .

I didn’t know lefse could be purchased!
(I came across them for the first time in The Immigrant Cookbook, recipe provided by Chef Ana Sortun who’s a Boston favorite.)

Google - mail order lefse - and you’ll be surprised how many shops could ship it to you. One has shipping dates planned for next week. Here in the Twin Cities MN metro area, most grocery stores stock it starting before Thanksgiving and thru New Years.

At first I thought why are there mouse droppings in your yogurt! Then I read the geezer buds

Looks good, actually

‘Geezer buds’ look like snail bait. I’d keep those out of the reach of small children.

Good and healthy-ish  and you’ve obviously never seen mouse :poop: before.

They also look like mouse bait, but it’s the fiber that I’m after

An embarrassment of riches: eggs on eggs :yum:

I’d almost forgotten about the jar of steelhead trout roe I brought back from Biederman’s in Philly! And so, a toasted slice of Aldi’s Italian loaf, a shmear, two quick HBE from my trusted MW egg “poacher” tossed with a lil Duke’s, all topped with the brilliantly orange trout roe. Delish.

With the way chicken egg prices are heading, they may soon be more expensive than caviar, or just regular roe.

Local blueberries, frozen over the summer, blended with unsweetened Greek yogurt, a small banana, and a scoop of whey.

Thankfully, I get my eggs for free. The roe was a holiday splurge, OTOH.

in Indonesia, you can try the salad as breakfast. it’s called Gado Gado

#SSDD bc why mess with something good? Also, that roe doesn’t last forever. I have a few decorative eggses left, with which I may have to gild a HBE.

I’ve enjoyed Gado Gado before. I didn’t realize it was eaten for breakfast. Good to know.

Egg and fried mashed potatoes.

Sort-off eggs Benedict -An English muffin half topped with thin-sliced ham and over-easy egg, with Hollandaise. A rare event this morning - Mr MTT said “yes” when asked whether he’d like me to make him an egg as I was preparing my own breakfast. I gave him the egg I’d just finished cooking along with half muffin, ham and sauce. I cooked another egg for myself (placed on the other muffin half, ham and rest of Hollandaise) and we shared happy UMMM’s at the table.
