What's for breakfast? (2025)

Using up stuff from the fridge - angel hair tossed with Swiss chard, garlic, and red pepper flakes, topped with a runny fried egg and chile oil.

How is the overnight oatmeal. I have been meaning to make some, but keep forgetting. Yours looks good.

I like it much better than cooked oatmeal. Cooked oatmeal made a frequent appearance on the breakfast table when I was growing up but it’s one of the few foods I really don’t like. When overnight oatmeal started gaining popularity I went to the health food store since the shop I frequent sells it in bulk. I bought a small amount of oatmeal so I could try it and it has a much nicer texture. I served the oatmeal plain this morning since I have some canteloupe I’m finishing up but it tastes really good with fresh berries.

Raspberry pancakes. There was gazpacho. .

All produce from our garden.

We’re off from school today for Rosh Hashanah, so I got to sleep in all the way 'til 6:15! Got today’s workout in and treated myself to a 2 egg omelet filled with broccoli, cauliflower, and cheddar. Some smoked paprika and black pepper over the top. Not my prettiest omelet, but it hit the spot! BF made coffee, which was very welcome, as well!

Shana tovah to those celebrating today!

Dieticians in Ontario like to push overnight oats.

I don’t like overnight oats or Bircher Muesli.

I don’t mind occasional cooked oatmeal, baked oatmeal or fried oatmeal. I want to try a savoury breakfast oatmeal one of these days.

breakfast today was whole-wheat toast with cambazola.

This morning’s breakfast is a fruit salad and a glass of milk. I’m having a light breakfast since I’m going for afternoon tea later.

I pulled out 3 frozen sourdough discard pancakes and nuked them. Just butter on top. Good but a bit too sweet. Next time I’ll add less sugar.

After getting a take out lunch on Friday then afternoon tea yesterday I wasn’t terribly hungry this morning so no usual Sunday morning fry up for me today. Instead I had a few dried figs (nut pictured) and a red pepper frittatta.
