Wow, you get up early!!!
Well… where’s YOUR syrup, sir?
Geezer buds and syrup? Hmmm…
Gotta get them down somehow but my guess is he went with honey for this one.
Not usually but I woke up at 4:00 am this morning and after tossing and turning for an hour I decided to get up and get going. I have already had a pancake breakfast and I’ve made lentil soup and potato salad for lunches this week. And I wonder why I fall asleep in front of the tv in the evening I had an appointment with a sleep doctor a couple of months ago and I’m supposed to be working on going to bed earlier but it’s not working very well…
Honey is the correct answer
φυσικά!
Covid completely turned my bio rhythm upside down. I’ve always been a late-night /late morning person, but that first Monday when everything had shut down, I woke up at 7am. This didn’t change for well over a year or two. And I’d be ready for bed by 10pm. My PIC thought his wife had been abducted by aliens and replaced with a body double
It was fantastic for work (I was doing Instacart all day long), but I didn’t recognize myself anymore.
Now, it’s slowly moving back toward normalcy — I can stay up till midnight and beyond (though not as late as just 5 or 10 years ago), and sleep till 9:30 at least.
I’m a healthy sleeper, for sure, and feel terrible for so many friends of mine who deal with insomnia
I wish I could blame covid but I only have myself to blame since I think I have sleep apnea. I’m not sure what I do during my sleep now since I live alone but I was on a long term relationship with someone 25 years ago and he used to stay at my place on the weekends. I remember him telling me that when I slept at night I would stop breathing and just when he thought I was dead I would start breathing again. The last thing he said to me about the subject was “you should see a doctor”. At the time I didn’t think I needed to and it never occurred to me it might be sleep apnea. I stopped drinking coffee thinking that would help then last year I gave up alcohol but my sleep got worse - who knew! So I called my family doctor last November who referred me to a sleep doctor who called me in January so they scheduled me for a sleep test - in October (We have long wait times in Canada so this is normal.)
Oh lord that’s a long wait! But I’m relieved to hear you’re having this checked out. My PIC occasionally would do the same thing… snore, then stop breathing for a bit, then start again. Terrifying!
He did a sleep lab test and was diagnosed with a deviated septum (I prefer to call it deviant ). No apnea, and things seems to have improved over time.
But it can be really dangerous, so hopefully you can get in sooner!
There’s also a discussion about it here FYI.
Fettuccine with lamb. Leftovers are good breakfast eats
Even better served in bed.
Thanks for the link. I’ve bern following the discussion and wearing a CPAP machine scares me a bit but I might not have a choice…
The Oatmeal has a pretty funny new comic about CPAP machines, but knowing my sense of humor isn’t for everyone here I know better not to post it
Chocolate babka I brought back from nyc.
ETA It’s from Breads bakery. A couple of years ago, Mom visited me in NYC and we stayed together in an AirBnB that was in someone’s home (my apt has too many stairs.) The homeowner served this babka in the morning and my mind was blown.
Just sayin’ …
The recipe
A ludicrously late, yet nonetheless delicious and gigantic bowl of Fage topped with pineapple, booberries, blackberries, and strawberries that needed to go before our trip
Couldn’t finish it all, so it’ll be tonight’s far-too-healthy dessert… or tomorrow’s breakfast.
Boiled pork dumplings. The Farm Boy pork dumplings (the larger dumplings) seem to taste better than they did 2 years ago.
