What's for breakfast? (2024)

I mean, it is right there in the name - break fast so I concur, every day regardless of time.

Makes sense given the meaning of the word, but a lot of people tend to think of it as a specific type and time (and I’m in that group unless I’m intentionally paying attention to the meaning).

Most of the time I break fast about 1 pm, but maybe 1-2 days a week it’s 7 or 8 pm, mostly by chance rather than intention. Unless I’m purposefully doing an OMAD type intermittent deal, then I’ll do several days or a week with breaking fast in the evening.

I go back and forth on the benefits of OMAD and/or doing a 48-72 hour fast. I feel like I’m feeling better when I’m doing it fairly consistently but I might be just fooling myself about that.

Plus I have to give up the booze when I’m doing that. I likes my beer, I does.

what are those black things on the plate? Shrimp dumplings??

They are shrimp dumplings with a black wrapper. They’re part of the shrimp dumpling party pack.

https://www.farmboy.ca/products/farm-boy-shrimp-appetizer-party-pack-510-g/

The pack comes with 4 different packets, each containing 6 dumplings. I usually steam 12 at a time when I make them for breakfast at home, for me and my Dining Companion, that way we have another 12 dumplings for another time.

The Farm Boy bags of frozen Potsticker dumplings weren’t great. We like this type more.

Last day with an old friend of mine in town, and we went to an Aussie-run brunch place that is perpetually overrun with hipsters - like, forget about getting a table on the weekend, BUT got lucky today at 2pm on a Wednesday & got a nice spot in the sun.

Shared their ABC tasting plate with 2 poached eggs, macadamia romesco with chimichurri, hollandaise sauce, grilled halloumi, house-cured salmon and pulled pork, plus an extra poached egg & a side of feta. The pink peppercorns were a lovely addition to the eggs, and their Croque Monsieur looked bomb! Next time…

'twas the perfect amount of food, and that cappuccino was gorge

No cappuccino after 10am - you are not any longer in America

Aw. You should know better by now that I don’t care much for rules and regulations

I invented an enchilada albondiga butty.
Refried bean and cheese enchilada, 1 albondiga, split in half, on toasted white bread.

Good to have the description as well as the photo. At first glance I mistakenly presumed this was thick French Toast covered in blueberries with a sweet glaze drizzle.

Lol!

I’m camping with 3 of my kids, son-in-law and grandson. I made bacon and eggs on a large electric griddle and when daught #1 was disappointed “no toast?” (gee, was I supposed to bring a toaster, too?), I made toast with my propane flamethrower thingee.

I feel your daughter’s pain. While we are most certainly not camping, our pad does not have a toaster. So my poor PIC has been eating floppy white bread straight outta the frig.

It’s a tragedy, TBH.

I’ve toasted bread over the stove. In case you have a gas stove and some tongs.

Unless we find a reallllllly cheap toaster.

I, OTOH might give the stove-top roast a shot tomorrow. Gotta have some toast to sop up the turkey egg scramble :yum:
