What’s on your mind?

There are no "not listening " emoticons.
Maybe this one.

I’m thinking of a time when we are no longer sending thoughts and prayers seemingly every week.

My SO hated light pollution. Ended up traveling to two places, one in the poconos and one even further out from us in Penna. The Endless mountains. We took a night walk one time where you could not see your hand in front of your face. Where we stayed in the poconos you had to keep a flashlight by you so you would not bump into things if you had to get up in the middle of the night to obey a call of nature. Beautiful Leaf blowers are very popular around here and people love their yard work. There is air pollution here too as there has been no open burning for quite some time but people do it anyway. If they would just stick to yard scraps it smells nice but they simply cannot resist throwing in stuff like plastic. People love to feed a fire. I used to move around a lot and neighbors in a few states would love to chain their dog up for the night as close to the property line as possible, much closer to our home than theirs so they could sleep peacefully and barely hear the barking. This happened in North Miami, Homestead FL and here in Penna.

I find for the plaintiff and award $1.
I also find for the respondent in her counter suit and award $1.

In civil cases if both sides feel screwed then it’s probably fair.

Call the next case, Rusty.

Bahhhh…dunt….dunt!

Watching Johnny Depp case. I know it’s a waste of time, but

Yeah I hate that. People chain their dogs close to neighbours and the dog barks the whole night. Owner sleeps like dead, and the people around have to stay awake.
Long ago this happened to me many times. This was decades ago, when I was much younger. What I did was I kept some fire crackers with me. When the dog barks I would throw a fire cracker on to the owner’s roof, and just keep quiet. He would come out, walk about, and go back to sleep, at which I would again throw a fire cracker. If I can’t sleep, neither should you. LOL.

So so tempting. My SO and I had the neighbor from hell when we lived in a top floor apt in Trenton NJ. This time we were the noisy ones she thought. She would yell at us for walking across our floor and she could hear us. She came and knocked on our door once to complain and when I went to answer my dad, who was visiting listened to her rant very briefly and then he snarled F you at her. I was surprised but just this once it was the correct response. She was not ever gonna let up anyway. Once we had our very dog like siamese cat Bosco walk down the stairs with us to go somewhere. Yes we took our cat for outings in our car. She heard us and opened the door to scold us but the cat immediately walked right into her apt and she started screaming that our cat was going to kill her pet bird. My SO quickly scooped up our very friendly cat and she at least never pulled that stunt again. Some neighbor trouble can be one of the circles of hell.

Introvert here. I had a very extroverted co worker who disliked me. She wanted to get me fired. She once announced to anyone within hearing range that I didn’t care what anyone thought. Her voice was dripping with disdain. I grinned. One of the best compliments of my life and from an enemy too.

I have finally given myself over to fiction books again. This is a balm for my soul. My favorite horror movie is the original The Haunting of Hill House complete with the erotic statue scene. Not the remake. Did not realize We Have Always Lived in The Castle was around. Read that and what a rush to feel myself in the palm of a great author’s hand again. What a master. It took me til I got to the line. “on sunday I try on their clothes in the attic” to really get hooked. Slowly reading The Haunting of Hill House now. I need some escape from the news.

Perhaps you are suggesting that being an introvert is related to “hating everyone everywhere” and “not caring what anyone thinks”. No need to answer; this is just a place to say what’s on our minds.

I’ve often wondered about the various purposes online communities might serve for people who prefer less time with people.

I take this thread as the place to present items that aren’t worth a whole separate thread.
Maybe not the original intent, but I don’t figure anyone needs my thoughts on the World.

Back when I was a much younger and ambitious person investing in real estate and investment properties etc. I had an incident like this. I owned a single family home, which I rented to an individual. The relationship went well for a year or so, but then the tenant, unbeknownst to be, started sub-letting bedrooms in the home, to who I can best describe as migrant workers.

One day, when the rent was overdue I stopped by the property to see what was up. When I showed up at the property I found out my actual tenant had skipped town, and his “tenants” were the sole occupants of the property. (there were at least 4-6 people living in the property. When I arrived nobody would answer the door, even though I could see them inside. When I called to them through a window they “flipped me off” and refused to answer / open the door for me.

Long story short, I being the upstanding citizen I am drove to the local Police Department asked to speak to an officer and I “expected” him to escort me to remove these individuals from MY property.

NOPE - these people whom I never met, never had any agreement with and never paid me a dime had “squatters rights” and the police wouldn’t even come with me back to the property to give them a warning. Nope, I was in the wrong, I would have to go on to hire an attorney to have them evicted and they trashed the property before vacating.

I was shocked, but learned a very valuable lesson about being a landlord!!! (especially in NJ where tenants have squatters rights) I wish you a much better outcome than mine!!

Sorry to hear that.
That’s why a landlord should always schedule a visit to the property. I am no landlord but I know a few people who are. They visit the property on a scheduled date, and keep an eye on what’s going on.

So this thread isn’t to dump one’s random brain contents regularly without context or any kind of coherence?

I honestly couldn’t tell.

Absolutely correct! As I said that experience was many moons ago and many lessons have been learned since. lol

Yes, it’s a catch all thread so please dump until your heart is content.

Oh, thx. I’m good, actually. I’m generally not one to overshare my innermost ramblings with random strangers
