I own the same Cuisipro box grater and the bottom in black plastic is the perfect ginger grater, if you ask me.
Looks very similar in design to your white ginger grater (but of course smaller)
Have you tried the bottom of the Cuisipro box grater for ginger ?
The nice thing about it is that it rips the ginger apart perfectly and collects the juice at the bottom and you don’t hurt your fingers if you get into contact with the black plastic pointers.
All punning aside, it works really well for ginger with the rim catching all of the juice and the coated bottom keeping it from sliding around.
One grater I can’t do without is my nut mill. It grates instead of pulverizes, so you have featherlight shavings instead of tiny chunks. It looks like this:
Mine clamps to the table, but otherwise, it’s the same.
I’m in the Microplane camp. I have coarse, fine rasp, and ribbon graters similar to the wood-handled ones in the OP, but with stainless handles, and the nutmeg grater. In times past, I’ve had the original no-handle fine rasp and also the successor long black-handled rasp, which I’ve since given away. There’s also a rotary grater around that doesn’t get a lot of use, and coarse and fine grating blades for the food processor that come out for grating cheese or vegetables in quantity.
Ah, yes was aware of that part but I haven’t tried using it yet. Will give it a go the next time I need some grated ginger. FWIW the Kyocera grater has more substantial “teeth” than the one from the Cuisipro, but as you say the Cuisipro does seem a lot less likely to shred fingers!
These are all the graters I could find. I have a Mouli somewhere, but I couldn’t find it. Clearly it doesn’t get used much. I’ve been meaning to see if the rotating micro plane grater intended for cheese might accommodate nutmeg?
I also found this hard cheese (Parmesan) grater that I picked up. I’ve never tried it. It looks like a gimmicky thing featured at the Pfistern restaurant in Switzerland.
Micro plane zester
Box grater indicating what each grater is for one side has a fine and extra fine grate also came with a bench scraper.
Hand held rotary grater for Parmigiano, Romano and Padano cheeses for the table
Fine Small hand held grater for small amount of cheeses
Oxo tent grater.
I had a hand held razor sharp larger grater that I donated to Goodwill because of too many “accidents”.
