Yes, I’ve been using the smart plugs at home for years, mainly for lights and I’m surprised at how much I do rely on these for now. You can program directly on the Kasa phone app for the plugs to turn on or off at specific times of the day, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting to turn them off. I have this programmed with my kitchen under cabinet lights.
I have an Amazon Echo, and the Alexa app integrates with Kasa smart plugs too (and I assume other brands) so it gives me the added option to have voice control. As a huge fan of horror movies with a penchant for watching scary movies late at night, it’s so much easier to turn on lights remotely to dark rooms using the voice command. But in general some of my home lights will turn on automatically as it approaches dusk, and all lights are set to turn off by a certain time in case I forget.
Yes, I have the same brand and they work through Apple Home app/Siri too. Am totally enjoying having my espresso machine heat up without me getting out of bed to turn it on. (As well as light in front hall turning on an off.) Doesn’t get any lazier than this, but for $10, worth every penny to me!
You might laugh but this tension based tofu press and frig storage box has made my day!
No more press waiting, stacking makeshift kitchen items plus simple frig storing until ready to use (so simple to rinse clean) is my new fav gadget.
I can see how that could really light you up! Neat gadget. I do not know that I could name just one, but I am always reaching for the Victorinox STAR peeler, the fine microplane, and long paddle nose tweezers.
Today, because autumn has arrived full force, my favorite kitchen gadget is the Whirly Pop. I use a little coconut oil, add Orville’s popcorn and a few tablespoons of sugar and crank away. Absolutely perfect kettle corn every time. Sprinkle with salt, Yummy! What more could you want while sitting in front of the fire warming your toes?
In Japan, I never found either of these gadgets (they may have been available, but I didn’t run across them) and am happy to have access to them again.
I have used the tofu press 4 times with great success. The tension bands do all the work. The liquid is poured off easily while the tofu stays put inside the storage box and the prepared tofu stores inside the press refrigerated until I use it. HANDY!
My antiquated use of towels and weights works ok, but this looks as if it is more effective. Firm tofu pressed dry, tossed in cornstarch, and fried in the wok until it is nice and crisp is addictively good. We probably have some form of tofu weekly or more.
I suspect that you’re referring to the vegetable peeler. And if so, I don’t think this type of vegetable peeler is because the “blade” doesn’t fully rotate and only moves a little to each side.
But Walmart sells this one which can be used by lefties:
