We’ll have to agree to disagree on Taco John’s.
My guess is you’d give thumbs down :-1: to the brilliance of Del Taco :taco: too.

I have yet to try Del Taco. Should I? I am told that it is better than Taco Bell.

Yes, better. A combination Mex/! hamburger stand.

And fish tacos, at least some of the time.

What do you order most at Del Taco?

Usually fish tacos. Sometimes they have shrimp tacos on special.
Always their basic ground beef tacos.
Also chill cheddar fries and carne asada fries rock!

Never had a Del Taco. Driven past about 1,000, but never stopped in. Usually, if I stop at such a place, I’m on the road, and need it to be driver friendly. I’ve eaten tacos driving, but often opt for less potential mess.

I’m not saying that Taco Johns is bad. Never tried it. Just kinda put off by the branding there. Nothing I see on the menu says “buy this!” tater tot ole. That’s what put me over the edge. I’ll try Del Taco one day. There are none by me, but when I visit my mom in Phoenix, I see them everywhere. Popeye’s is really the only place that has a meal I crave: that spicy chicken samich. Combine that with a jamocha shake from Arby’s and I’m in heaven. Even though it’s more slow food than fast food, I do pick up a Papa Murphy’s za pretty regularly, like when I’m exhausted. I’ll eat a cheapy Arby’s gyros in a pinch. 'Nother potential mess maker, though. Gotta have the tzatziki.

Have to try Del Taco next time I go south. I make a lot of Latino dishes at home, so I generally don’t go to Taco places. I feel pretty adept making those things on my own. Enjoy Taco John’s. Ya like whatchya like! Don’t go changin’.

Hey, does anyone remember spicy crispy KFC chicken? Man, in the early 80’s I had to drive to a more diverse neighborhood to get it. I was so hooked on that.

I should try then… Do you remember fish taco, then?

I’m hesitant to recommend any FF item to anyone else, but I enjoy them.
They don’t have much competition in the FF mexi seafood category, so there’s that.

We have both Del Taco and Taco Bell here in SoCal but I haven’t been to a Del Taco in maybe 20 years. If I’m in the mood for fast Mex it’s always a Crunchwrap Supreme, which I can eat while I drive. Otherwise I don’t really go there either. So many ‘real’ taquerias around here!

Same here.
But FF Mexican is a whole different category as far as I’m concerned.

Yup. That’s why I said “real”.

Just for you @NotJrvedivici I give you the Popeye’s 59 cent two piece deal.

Of course I had to buy $50 worth of their chicken sandwiches to get it …

Not really, but I do have a shitload of chicken left.

That does not really whet the old taste buds :flushed:

Not being sarcastic but is that a breast they gave you for $ .59? That’s something, I figured you would get a wing and drum stick.

I had the option of light or dark and chose light. Dark was drumstick and thigh. Not bad.

Good for you @seal ! I didn’t end up taking advantage of the Popeyes anniversary deal.
