If you happen to travel through the Midwest, Culver’s are pretty awesome. Flat griddled butter burgers, good crinkle fries, and custard. If you drive through you can order the kids meal which includes a drink and scoop of custard!
I thought about that, but even then, I have a hard time believing those two locations are more popular than McDonalds, In-N-Out, etc.
See, that just shows just how good Which Which is. People will travel far and wide for it.
Haha - my weekend trip has just been planned!
We have Culver’s here in Florida. They really are great. And they have the best root beer I have ever tasted.
From personal experience - it’s very mediocre.
I tried one near Detroit in 2019. Very busy with the after-church crowd on a Sunday in Detroit. Both maybe all chain restaurants in the Rust Belt have this phenomenon. Erie’s Cracker Barrels and Bob Evans are also very busy after church.
That doesn’t happen so much on the Canadian side of Lake Erie these days. I remember Sunday brunch buffets being busy after church in the 80s and 90s.
I haven’t ever seen a fast food or chain restaurant busy after church in Ontario , although it might happen in smaller Ontario towns closer to Detroit or Buffalo.
It’s on my list to try.
Did you really have to post this? @seal lets meet up at Popeyes, you bring $5 and I’ve got the $ .59!
Sorry to rain on your fried chicken parade.
I have the app, used it to order, and there was no 59 cent deal to be found.
I hope it is now available but I’m done with chicken this week.
I couldn’t get see it either. I’ve never used the app before. Also, for the record, I go for the thighs, and they have been a disappointment of late. I’m not sure I want come a $5.59 order of thighs at this point. But I might figure something out.
the 59 cent deal is in the app for my local Popeyes in San Francisco but you have to order a minimum of $5 on the app to get the deal. Sandwiches are $4.99 and except for a 10 piece chicken, the app only has meals with biscuit sides, etc. which don’t really interest me. So yes, I did buy 10 pieces of chicken in order to get the 59 cent two piece chicken.
I’ll be the voice of dissent here - I really dislike Culver’s. DH loves it and it’s my parents’ favorite fast food as well, so we sometimes stop there when roadtripping or on family visits. Every sandwich I’ve tried has been irredeemably bland. I don’t care for crinkle cut fries in general and their “famous” cheese curds, which I normally adore, are overly salty and rubbery. Even their custard is only okay. I’m no great fan of fast food burgers (or fast food in general, really) but I’ll take McDs or Wendy’s any day over Culver’s. Better yet, point me to the nearest Arby’s!
Never been to a Chipotle. Nothing weird about you liking what you like…unless it’s a Chipotle burrito. Sounds good, though.
I like cheese: bulk tank milk that is curdled, salted and pressed. Vegetable oil has no place in cheese. I despise fake cheese. Sorry if I sound un-American.
That chicken sandwich at Popeye’s really hit me sweetly. Love it. Love the spicy mayo. Easy to make at home.
The jamocha shake at Arby’s is heavenly.
Culver’s, though, would be my go-to, if I had a chain go-to.
Hu Hot is a chain. I was into that for awhile.
I gotta say, though, Taco John’s? Tater tots ole? Couldn’t even pretend it was Mexican and called it Taco Juan’s. I dunno. Dass messed up. I was once in a neighborhood where that was about the only place to eat. I stopped at a gas station to eat that day. Just can’t do it.
I agree about the fries. They weren’t particularly good crinkles either. I do love Arby’s.
