Just a Public Service Announcement that today is National French Fry Day.
McDonalds is giving away a free large fry, no purchase necessary but you have to use the app. They also have a free McFlurry with the purchase of one dollar or more, but you can only use one deal at a time, so have to wait 15 minutes between using the deals. Please don’t ask me how I know this.
Apparently there is a National Junk Food Day. And it is today.
Zippo1, Daym always made me laugh plus he was pretty dang accurate in his appraisal of the foods he reviewed. I remember back in 2012 when he reviewed 5 Guys and I was like, “This guy is real.” Then he started doing the Best and Worst videos and I stopped watching because they were still good but there were just so many of them.
Just a reminder to pick up a few Mega Millions tickets for the $800+M drawing tonight. Raising Cane’s CEO bought 50K tickets and if the big one hits he’ll “share” it with all his employees. Nice guy.
Wouldn’t it make more sense to take the money he spent on tickets and share THAT with the employees?
From another news article back in 2021:
“Raising Cane’s currently employs 40,000 crewmembers, company officials said. “
Think I’d rather take my chances.
I will almost always take a definite something over an almost definite nothing. He could also have simply bought all his employees their own ticket.
If he just gave the employees the money he spent on the tickets it would be $100,000 / 40,000 employees is $2.50 per employee.
Not a huge bonus! LOL!
If one of the tickets is the only winner it would be 800Mn / 40k or $20,000 each, less taxes and fees so $10k or $12k per employee.
I think it is a cool move on the owners part.
YMMV.
I think it was a publicity stunt, and if he had truly wanted to help his employees, he would do so in a less flashy and actually effective way.
I hear you, but I think it was primarily a morale thing, not just a publicity stunt. It gives everyone at the company something positive to talk about. It cost the employees nothing and it is fun. I think it is a win.
And we are talking about a company that none of us really cared about a week ago, so there is that.
I guess I am a glass half full guy on this one. LOL!
I’m not impressed by displays of fake largesse. I’m sure there are employees who will get a little excited about it. But Todd Graves is worth $150 million. Is throwing $100K down the toilet - because that’s the likely outcome of this venture - really the best he can do?
Nah. It is just fun.
If you don’t like it, I can understand that, but I will bet more of his employees are laughing than complaining.
He runs a business that employs a LOT of people so he has already done something for his employees, who in turn are doing something for him. It is a win win.
Actually, one just opened where I live, and while I usually have no interest in chicken without bones, I was wondering if I should check it out.
For chicken fingers, they’re pretty good, always made-to-order, and the dipping sauce is addictive. My problem is that I don’t eat inside these days, and as takeout, it gets served in a plastic bag. This makes the chicken soggy (or less crisp, anyway) almost immediately.
As for the lotto tickets, I think the owner’s just doing a nice thing for his employees – I don’t see it as “fake largesse”. YMMV.
Is Slapfish fast food? If it is, I would nominate it as one of the best options. Much more pricey than Taco Bell or McDonald’s but so much better food.
Best pseudo Mexican chain I have tried is Cafe Rio. Leaves chipotle in the dust.
What’s Slapfish?
Not one I’ve heard of.
@BKeats
I consider fast casual to be a subset of fast food, so slapfish is fast food in my books. One more fast casual resto to check out once I can travel again.
Slapfish is a mostly western chain that serves seafood (duh). Made to order so you place your order and wait a bit for the food. Tacos, fish and chips, salads, lobster rolls with a choice of fish. Really good and fresh. I was surprised with the variety of ingredients in the salad I got with some grilled fish the first time I went.
He could do that one better and start charging patrons to use the bog … (it was something Ryanair’s chief said a while back just to drum up media attention. Like everything he had said, really.)
What is the bog?
