What are you watching? - 2025

We’re still very much enjoying Alien Earth, mostly for the same reasons @PedroPero watched Invasion: the creatures are done so well

Also watched another epi of Only Murders in the Building and the final epi of S7 Taskmaster.

Maybe I’ll give it a go. Where is it streaming?

Alien Earth is streaming on Hulu or you can catch it on FX

Thanks! I have neither

As this is a food site, we report we sadly read that Lord Guest – err, Nigel – is reduced to running a cheese shop, when he could have been flogging sandwiches made with meat that doesn’t need folding to fit the bread.

True, but keep in mind it IS a cheese and guitar shop. And in fact, he is willing to trade one for the other, in either direction. Usually on a weight basis which he estimates by hand.

David St. Hubbins writes scores for podcasts and hold music. And had at least one tshirt (unremarked on in the film) featuring the infamous Japanese print The Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife. Look that up at your own risk.

Derek Smalls moved to southern California and runs the Museum of Glue.

Doc. A chief in emergency medicine is brilliant but not liked. She gets into a bad car accident and loses 8 years a of her memory. Forgot she was divorced and her son died. She wants to practice medicine again, and, did I mention she’s brilliant? She the hospital takes her back as an intern. Combine medical drama with soap opera and I’m hooked!

A flick I wish I’d been more awake for, as my PIC liked it a lot. I blame our buddy’s HH martinis on the patio :grimacing:

(Apparently) really well done & smart.

A pic I was awake for last night:

It was more terrifying for my PIC, who is afraid of heights. That said, pretty tense & fun watch.

Please tell me that Kath & Kim gets better after the first episode. We found it nowhere near as funny as Fisk and I’ve been told I can watch it alone if I want to continue.

Oof, I am sorry that Kath & Kim didn’t connect for you. I do think Fisk is more subtle than Kath & Kim in its humor, which can get quite silly in an over-the-top way. A swing and a miss on my part.

So….. that’s a no? I’m not sure our problem was it being “over the top” as much as just not clever and funny the way Fisk is, I may watch another episode on my own before giving up.

Dunno. Agree with you that Fisk is very much its own thing, which is what makes that show special.

We’re re-watching Orphan Black, now that it’s back on Netflix. We’re catching so many things we missed the first go-around. It’s a crime that Tatiana Maslany wasn’t nominated for more major acting awards. Re-watching it makes us realize how crappy the sequel (Orphan Black: Echos) really was. We watched the entirety of Echos hoping it’d get better, but it just wallowed in it’s own mediocrity from beginning to end.

Binged Black Rabbit the last couple of nights on HBO, gotta say I was disappointed. The story was interesting enough, but the acting just didn’t do it for me, and I’m a Jason Bateman fan(he was the best of the lot)
6/10 rabbits ,YMMV natch.

I loved Fisk and the first seasons of Gavin and Stacy have a similar quirky charm.

Watched two more episodes of Death Valley on BritBox. Big thumbs up. Love new British Baking show and yikes, Project Runway has turned into an over the top reality show mess.

Thanks for the rec. Unfortunately Britbox and Peacock are two I don’t have.

We are watching London Kills.

I like Sharon Small, who stars in this and starred in The Inspector Lynley Mysteries series, from 2001-2007.

I also like Hugo Speer who stars in London Kills.

I preferred the old Inspector Lynley Mysteries series to the current Lynley.

Jimmy Kimmel again, looks like.
