What are you listening to? 2024

Lol, as I am opening your first youtube video (couldn’t see the title) I was watching Mad Max Fury Road exactly at the moment the quote ‘lovely day’ comes up! Strange coincidence!

The Neville Marriner and Academy of St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields recording of Haydn’s Symphony No. 103, the Drum Roll. It is an older Phillips recording, and the dynamic range is astounding. It makes the visualization of Sir Neville very real.

D-Train - Walk on by

This guy (James Williams) has a phenomenal voice and made some of the best funk music ever made in my opinion. I’m a pale white guy from Denmark, but this is the music that I truly enjoy - R&B, Funk, Jazz and HipHop.

This just came on Pandora.

I am in absolute awe of her vocals, and that band is tiiiiiiiight. Sent it to my boys claiming I’d want to work on this just to scare the living bejeezus outta them :joy:

Another great track from the 80’s - the golden time for funky R&B music.

Fil Bo Riva - Lost in Life (Roosevelt Mix)

My favourite pop track at the moment. Love the energy in it. Roosevelt is a genious in my opinion.

I must have listened to this track 100+ times over the last 3-4 months.

I was lucky to catch Fil Bo Riva in 2016 at a small club in Berlin, where they were the opening act for Lera Lynn. I don’t usually pay much attention to opening acts (as evident in my impatience to get those damn noodlers Phish off the stage in the early 90s, when they were opening for the Femmes in Nürnberg), and went outside to catch some ‘fresh air’

I’m really glad I came back in to hear most of their show. He has a very unusual & memorable voice. We bumped into him & his bandmate at the subway stop afterwards. Super-friendly and down to earth. Caught them again at the Fete de la Musique, and was ready to see him again in 2017, but that show was cancelled :frowning:

These are my favorites from his debut album:

Level 42 - The sun goes down (Livin’ it up)

Level 42 was one of my favourite bands in the 80’s and 90’s - this track I didn’t really start to enjoy until recently, but now I’m hooked on it.
