Morning snuggles
Safety?
She didn’t even notice the claw clippers that were waiting for her to finish her beauty nap.
Laszlo is vehemently opposed to nail-cutting, to both of our detriments. The vet has to do it, and Laszlo has to be sedated.
I hope I’m not jinxing myself, but ever since I got my new little boy kitty, I’ve spent a lot of time playing with his feet. KISS your nose, kiss your little toes. So I’ve been able to at least get the claw tips without too much trouble.
Yes, that is a method that works with some cats. With Laszlo, it’s a good way to get your face bitten off.
My late 2 Abyssinians absolutely refused to let me cut their nails. They only weighed about 8 lbs but pure muscle. Once a housekeeper was helping me, we tried hard and only got to clip one nail.
I had to haul them to a groomer or vet. They’d hold them by the back of neck and sorta immobilize them.
With my present Tonkinese I can clip her nails if someone else is alongside holding her body.
My former cat needed to be immobilized (I sort of sat on him), but at least he gave in. This one will fight to the death - yours or his.
It’s a 2-people job at casa lingua. My PIC holds the fat boy’s scruff, and I do the clipping.
Pilling him? Impossible. Not even a team of 5 could do it while he was double-wrapped in a blanket.
Shades of a particularly disturbing scene in Jacob’s Ladder. Had to take him to the emergency vet on a Sunday. Took them 2 min, and they didn’t charge us
Pilling or squirts in the mouth has been impossible with all of my kitties except one, who had to endure daily doses of oral Flagyl. My girl is on 2 meds - both compounded as transdermals - so she gets them rubbed in her earflaps. Works a charm, but obviously more expensive.
Funny you should say that. I managed to get both of my boys’ nails did (sic) without bloodshed.
Surprisingly the spicy brat let me clip his without a huge fuss. He wasn’t happy about it, and scampered off until he realized I had a licky treat* for him.
His floofy velcro brother struggled like I was going to pull his claws out altogether, although he, too, forgot about being mad whe I tore the top off of his treat.
*licky treat- those foil squeezeable packets that dispense the liquid treats that make my 2 dorget about any transgressions
Here’s a throwback to 2020 - I had recently purchased an ostrich feather toy for Parker. He loved it. And, then, destroyed it.
There’s a stash of those here at Casa Meekah.
I just got the boy a toy on an elastic cord that I tied around a kitchen drawer knob. He destroyed it in one day (the toy, not the cabinet …)
Biscuit wishes you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. She adds that if you want treats, adding a bit of flair to your look totally works. This weekend she scored cheese and chicken from fellow dog walkers.
So…this happened last night, out of the blue. I was reading on one side of the couch with Murphy lying behind me. Finny was on the other side, and woke up, got up, and walked over and flopped down behind me ON TOP OF MURPHY, purring up a storm.
It used to be Finn was the one that my late Alfie would flop upon. Now he’s the one laying on top of Murphy! (It lasted all of about 3 minutes, but Murphy didn’t seem to mind while it was happening.)
Goofballs. (And yes, that couch cover needs to go into the wash/dryer to get that cat hair off of it!)
Love those faces!
Biscuit is one smart dog!
