My cat lover friend sent me (a dog person) this as DC enters a DANGEROUS heat spell

Finnegan will run upstairs after I’ve fed them, because he LOVES lying on and sticking his head in my shoes when I change my clothes.

Weirdo. LOL

@linguafood - my FB memories came up, and this picture is from today in 2022. My caption was “Guess I’m not wearing sandals today.”

I love the name Finnegan. Finnegans Wake is a favorite of mine.

Yeah, I’m nearby. Keep getting alerts from city government. We’re all inside. I’m pinioned by felines.

Really, tomatoes? My grandcat, a girl, loves melon, period.

There is a Cat Video Fest making its rounds at various theatres across North America. Of course the screenings started in January and I didn’t remember to post here until July - sorry :frowning: But if you live in or near any of the theatres that will be showing it over the next few months, you can find the times, dates and locations on the official cat video website.

Oooh! Thank you so much for sharing! I missed last year’s for some stupid reason.

Unfortunately, nothing near me at this point, but hopefully they’ll add more dates for later in the year (?).

Yeah, tomatoes. I couldn’t leave them out on the counter to ripen. She’d peel them to get to the insides. Very precise toothwork.

I had a cat that I would find lapping up my bloody mary if I left it unattended.

A cat with taste! It’s tomato-ish, after all I didn’t think that cats were partial to alcohol, although my current little guy is very curious about open, drunk-from, bottles of beer.

We had a dog, Judas Priest (named for the Dylan song, not the band), who loved his sweet, boozy drinks. Once he drank a guest’s piña colada while she wasn’t looking. We lived in Houston, and the frequent thunderstorms freaked him out. I worked in a bank and carpooled with a guy who worked in the Mexico division. He would bring me large bottles of cheap Kahlua. When the storms started, we poured Judas a bowl of Kahlua and milk. He would get bombed and stand there, staring at a wall, drooling uncontrollably. We should have changed his name to The Dude. He was a great dog, but hey, all dogs are great if raised with love.

My townhouse neighbors had a Basset named Coach. Don’t remember if he was afraid of thunder, but he would drink anything, and I mean anything, that a human left unattended. I feel so sorry for dogs who are frightened by thunder or fireworks. My grandparents’ next door neighbor had a dog like that. The only thing that would calm her was my granddad - they’d let her into the house and she would jump right into his lap and shake. Otherwise, she would be under a piece of furniture.

Totally agree on feeling for dogs, or anyone, bothered by thunder or other noises like fireworks. Our grand dog is terrified of them. Our dog is unfazed by them. In addition to their gentle but goofy nature, that is a big plus for gun dogs, even if you don’t hunt. I walked Hopps on 7/4 at the height of the neighborhood noise, loud enough I could fell sound concussions (!), and he was oblivious to it. A couple of years ago I took the grand dog out at that time, and she headed for San Antonio at full tilt.
