We’re currently on vacation, and I bought some snacks from TJs for the room. I’m trying the dark chocolate peanut butter cups for the first time, and holy cow, they’re amazing. AMAZING.
I mostly try not to buy them, as a self-defense mechanism. They will spoil you for any other version.
I’ll buy these again, but not before the time-delay pantry lock is installed.
YAY to the tartare sauce. Nicely creamy and tangy.
Uh oh!!! Gonna have to hold off on the falafel experimentation!
it’s the fully cooked falafel. that’s being recalled, not the mix.
If I’ve been reading correctly, there have been 3 recalls on TJ products this week, cookies, soup and falafel. I shop there once in a few years when I travel to Spokane so I don’t pay much attention to news about TJ. I see many references to TJ by HOs. Are the recalls a common thing with TJ?
Here is a summary of recalls this year, not including the ones this month:
It was the fully cooked I’d posted about above.
when you said you were going to have to hold off on the experimentation, i didn’t did realize you were talking about holding off variations in heated the ready made. thought you were talking about the mix — we had discussed some variations upthread.
Get it. Thanks, though, for clarifying the recall for anyone just skimming.
The good news (for me!) is that California is not one of the states where it’s being recalled:
We have been alerted by our supplier of Trader Joe’s Fully Cooked Falafel (SKU# 93935) that the product — sold only in AL, AR, CO, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, VA, VT, Washington DC, and WI stores — may contain rocks.
Which is very good news for us in particular, because we had planned to have this for dinner tonight!
Thatsa lotta states!
Me too. The article I read didn’t specify.
UPDATE: We had TJ’s fully-cooked falafel for dinner last night, and it was entirely rock-free, or at least if there were rocks in it they were too small to notice.
That rocks!
NAY: cranberry clementine seltzer. Something in it reminds me of artificial grape. Not a fan.
Nay! Nay! Nay! to the dark chocolate pineapple sticks. My mother bought a pack, and I tried one when I was visiting, assuming it wouldn’t be for me since I’m not a huge fan of pineapple or chocolate; these were one of the worst things I’ve ever had. Way too sweet, odd texture, and didn’t really taste like either thing it was supposed to (at least to me). My mom did not dislike them as much as I did, but she agreed she would not purchase again.
Interested to hear if anyone has had better luck with these than I did
Dried pineapple would be good dipped in dark chocolate, but those look like jelly candy, not actual fruit? Pass.
I think it was supposed to. I was anticipating it to have a bit of bite/bounce like a jelly bean or a Swedish fish, but it was like biting into a chocolate-covered Jell-O shot.
