Sounds like pineapple lumps, a classic NZ sweet/candy. Wonder if this is where TJs got their inspiration.
They also have chocolate covered raspberry and orange jelly sticks. They remind of the Joyva chocolate covered jellies we always got at Passover. So thatās a good thing.
Thatās an awesome confection. I get them at nicer chocolate shops. Might be too pricy for TJs.
I wonāt yuck someone elseās yum. Just didnāt work for me, though I might be more inclined to the flavors you mentioned just in general!
Candied pineapple always leaves a bland, oversweet, granular impression on me.
A repeat of two big yays & a 'yay-ish" (better then meh but not quite yay) new product for us.
TJās French Vanilla Ice Cream
(it really hit the spot!)
TJās Ground Medium Roast Coffee
TJās Fish Sticks-- the āyay-ishā. Liked them much better then I thought I would since theyāre pollock. Fresh/frozen Pollock is always a āmehā for me. Tiny sticks though.
I dimly recalled this post while at TJās on Thursday. This cereal is a keeper! I found it needed a bit longer stir time in the small saucepan, and needed several minutes off heat to thicken up, but the result has satisfying texture and flavor.
too late, bought them expecting chunks of pineapple with a chocolate ācontrastā instead - a sweet (dark) chocolate and sweeter enema shaped blob of gooey jelly. A complete failure. NAY,NAY,NAY
Now thatās a vivid image!
Sorry you had to experience it too; Iām glad I wasnāt
alone in hating them
YEA for the ripe avocados selling for just $1.99 each at the North Beach TJās. I find that TJās produce isnāt always stored well, but the avo I picked was great.
I tend not to buy TJās produce (I go to the Novato CA store) because it usually goes bad so quickly. But theyāre the only store Iāve found that has ripe avocados, as opposed to rock hard ones, on a regular basis.
I like their green onions; they seem to stay fresh longer.
Welp, Iām a little disappointed. I bought two huge slabs of the Baked Lemon Ricotta Cheese after reading glowing reviews. Maybe my expectations were too high but i give it a solid MEH.
Interesting. Weāre in Las Vegas, where weāve found grocery-store produce options to be weak. Weāve actually had better luck (and more consistency) at TJās for produce. Except for avocados, which have a high percentage of duds and brown innards. For avocados, we have better success at Whole Paycheck. All this is probably an anomaly that only applies out in the desert.
The Chapel Hill, NC Trader Joeās storeās produce is much better than the local supermarketās.
TJās sources their produce (along with so-called artisan breads and some dairy like milk) regionally, so quality, freshness, and handling are going to vary in different areas of the country.
Iāve noticed the same thing about their green onions.
I had an interesting exchange with a number of employees last shopping trip. I was asking for a refund - unusual for me - on 2 bags of flour tortillas and 1 tuscan pane because all had molded within 3 days of purchase. The cashier, the bagger, and then later the manager who had to ok the refund were all - oh yea, the tortillas. You gotta use them or freeze them immediately. They were touting all natural as the reason, and while all natural is great, I donāt expect to have to throw away anything I buy in only 3 days. But it was funny how all in alignment they were. They must hear it from their customers on the regular.
āWhole Paycheckā. Thatās a good one.
