So many croquettes in that episode, especially in that hot weather. What was going on there?
I feel like the triple creme brie might have been the most challenging one to work with. It’s too easy for it to get lost with other flavors or to melt out entirely if heated improperly. What would have been a good prep for it that would have been appropriate for the weather, without just putting it on a plate with other ingredients (which, frankly, is all I think you should do with it - bread and a condiment, like a mostarda or tomato jam)?
Just found out that was a movie reference (thanks for link) and wasn’t Daria a character on an animated MTV show? Yeah proliferation of croquette’s seemed bizarre and why some chefs didn’t immediately change their idea was strange, but maybe at the market was too late to come up with a new idea.
I wonder about that too-- the changing of ideas. I wonder when they know or first learn of other’s ideas. I also wonder how much time they have to develop the idea and come up with the shopping list. And I wonder if a panic sets in and the brain either goes blank and hyper focussed.
I thought it would have been much more fun if they had the cheese in LCK in competition. I would have loved to see what people would have done with that on a hot 100F day. Yeah, I’m not a huge cheese fan so if I were here I would have been looking at everything kind of suspect. I guess this was inevitable if you shoot in the summer in a dairy state.
I think triple creme brie ice cream, maybe? If the contestant could have kept it frozen in those temps? Maybe a cheesecake? Every other recipe I see online is “en croute” and I don’t think that would be any better than a croquette in that weather, although probably technically easier.
The last episode seemed a bit more awkwardly contrived than usual, .
As Michelle said " I don’t know how this was was aligned, or the Lord allowed it"
Kristen seemed sort of apologetic after the double elimination.
Speaking of awkward, how about pairing up in the fourth week?
Charlie on pairing up with someone with immunity;
"I’m not worried about losing; we’re trying to win. "
Here’s the long version.
Buddha does a demo after LCK; ( maybe a new “show” called “The Dish with Kish” ?) , and Stephanie, her old apartment mate assists!
…and it made me think of the “equipment matters” thread on the cookware subforum. That show is certainly a good example of product placement, but to me, it never seemed geared toward “what professionals use” before.
“Get into your BMW X1s…!”
Speaking of product placement, Buddha is now a "water sommelier ", and had a guest water sommelier on the show as well!
Ha, that recap made me laugh. I’ll have to make sure to read these after reach show. I felt pretty much the same way - I was pretty confused with each team’s theme, and really felt like the winning team actually picked something that seemed to adhere to the challenge. How are these dualities?? I thought I was the one being lame and didn’t understand their artistic intent, so glad to read that others may have been just a confused. I do like these broad not specific challenges though, because half the fun is usually seeing how creative their interpretation of the theme was vs who is far out in left field.
This really felt contrived. And I was bored looking at the houses, etc. That’s not why I watch TC. I do like how these chefs get along. They actually have personalities….missing last season!
I remember his recaps from last year and they’re really good. Watched the episode while making dinner and I’m just happy that I’m starting to remember the various chefs and the crowd is thinning down. Last chance kitchen is also interesting this year.
Or maybe she is just oblivious as the edits seem to suggest. She did also have that spill in the kitchen that she didn’t clean up either. It wasn’t in the show, but I wonder if she did warn people there was a spill there.
For the record, I am just intrigued by why they show us some things. I am not sure what to make of her, but “clueless” could work! I was also irritated with myself for thinking she was Turkish, and telling my kids in Turkey so!
I seem to recall they showed us two spills, and Laura’s was the second, when she slipped on the first.
