Bee Sting! Sounds great
The menu here makes it hard for me to post a photo.
What would you order at Terroni in Toronto?
I’d start with the bresaola, to share. Then I’d have the ravioli, followed by the bistecca with a green salad.
Carpaccio
Grilled squid
Chickpea pancake
Garganelli Geppetto, pappardelle with mushrooms and sausage, or tonarelli cacio e pepe
Grilled sea bass
Pistachio cake
Roll me home (I would have to share all this).
I’m open to ordering family style, @ChristinaM and @damiano ,whenever you decide to visit Toronto
Nice selection,@damiano.
Umm yes and yum, especially to the farinata and grilled squid.
Adding to that:
Baked oyster mushrooms
Mangiabun / White Pizza with mozzarella, garlic, rapini, homemade spicy sausage
Warm flourless dark chocolate cake, with white chocolate ganache
Yes, let’s go together!
OH!! May I invite myself? You all have picked just about everything I’d order but will add these that have not already been claimed:
Giuggiolosa -mixed greens, gorgonzola, grilled red peppers, black olives, pinenuts, honey
Spaghetti al Limone - spinach, capers, parmigiano reggiano shavings, lemon, extra-virgin olive oil
Da Do’ a Da’ - tomato, mozzarella, goat cheese, eggplant, roasted red peppers
Terroni Sour - amaretto, bourbon, fresh lemon juice (for dessert)
It’s a deal!
My choices may seem a bit bland, but there is a reasoning!
I’m always a little cautious when visiting a restaurant for the first time. Reason: difficult to gauge the quality of cooking, so when perusing the menu I keep in mind how difficult a dish is and to what extent I believe the restaurant can execute that dish succesfully.
To play it safe here, I’d either have a pizza as a main, or indeed my choice the bistecca. As I now picked the bistecca, that means I don’t want any primi that is meat-heavy, otherwise the meal is unbalanced. Ravioli is a nice and light dish. Difficult to prepare well, but happy to take the chance.
The starter of a bresaola is just a nice, relatively safe, opener.
Interesting!
I’m more likely to try something I’m unlikely to make at home, or something new to me.
I’ve been to this restaurant around 25 times since my first visit around 2007.
I have only had their pizza twice.
I almost always order pasta. I am partial to the Spaghetti al Limone.
I often order a salad. I sometimes order the fried calamari.
The Assoluti Funghi, warm mushrooms with arugula and Parmesan, is really popular. The Giuggiolosa salad is also really popular.
I have never tried their bistecca or other secondi. Maybe I will one of these days.
The salt caramel budino, tiramisu, and panna cotta are great. The same company runs a bakery/café/pantry called Sud Forno, and sells individual tiramisu, panna cotta, budino and a few other pudding-type desserts in little verrines, which are great.
My friend had a plumbing emergency last night so we might be getting take-out tonight instead.
I’m the same way. I try to order dishes that I never make at home, or want to learn to make. I’m not wasting time on seared tuna but I will order a steak since I just don’t have a knack for getting one cooked to the right temperature, even when I use a thermometer.
We ordered the fried calamari, Funghi Assoluti
The surprise for me was how good the fried eggplant and nduja pizza was.
That’s what I’d order, but with a fruit bowl or green salad instead of potatoes. Coffee and either a mimosa or bloody.
ETA: did I miss the chicken club on the menu? It’s pictured on the cover…
There is a Triple Chicken Club on the menu, bottom left corner of the first page, under Tony’s Tops.
Not sure about the addition of guac to the Triple Chicken Club.
I haven’t tried anything with chicken at Boom yet.
